{~~Chapter 15~~}

Gia woke up and saw that she was alone. She felt cold and wrapped a blanket around herself, getting out of her bed. She didn't remember what happened last night. She grabbed clean clothes and walked into her bathroom, only to see that Alek was standing there with only a white towel wrapped around his hips. Her whole body froze and her eyes raked up his body. Water droplets glistened on his chest and chiseled abs and she saw his v-line very clearly. She blinked a few times, shaking off the thoughts pouring into her head. She went to walk out, but Alek gently grabbed her wrist. She looked up at his emerald eyes and saw something unrecognizable flash in them. "Are you feeling okay?" He asked and she nodded, narrowing her eyes slightly. "Yeah, I'm fine. Why do you ask?" His eyes widened slightly. "After you did that last night, you passed out. It must've taken a lot of energy."

She was utterly confused. "Why? What did I do last night?" He stared at her blankly, puzzlement crossing his angelic features. "You don't remember? You killed an umbraculo demon with blue electricity coming from your hands." He said and a smirk grew on his face. "And we also did some pretty memorable stuff. I'm surprised you don't remember." Her eyebrows shot up at him. "What exactly did we do?" She gasped and growled lowly at him. "We didn't have sex, did we?" She hissed and he sighed. "You only wish, angel. If it weren't for that umbraculo demon showing up, we probably would have. You definitely would've remembered that." He said and she shivered slightly. "But you seriously don't remember killing that thing? You turned that thing to a pile of ash, all with just your touch." He said and she shook her head. "No, I don't remember that." He looked over her face and sighed. "Alright, well, we have a patrol in a little bit with my mother, so gear up." He said and she gave a curt nod and left the bathroom.

Gia was shoving a black daemon blade on her side when Claire walked into her room. Alek was already ready to go, laying on her bed with his eyes closed. When his mother opened the door he opened his eyes and sat up. Claire looked at both of them, her blue eyes narrowed. "You two didn't do anything without protection last night, did you?" She asked and Alek stood up, shaking his head. "No, we didn't." Gia saw something in his eyes, but it was quickly covered up. He glanced at her with an emotionless mask on. She felt hurt for some reason and looked away. Claire didn't see it. "Alright, let's head out. I do not think we will run into any pure demons, but I can't be sure." She said and they followed her out of the room.

Alek didn't speak to her once on the patrol. They didn't run into any pure demons, but Gia could feel a heaviness in the air; a heaviness that made her nerves prickle and body ridged. She laid down on her bed, running her hands through her dark hair. She closed her eyes. Alek had said this morning that last night blue electricity flowed through her body and she killed an umbraculo demon. She read that those demons have never left their Hell dimension, never been in their dimension. She didn't know whether to believe him, or not. She didn't know how she would've done it, only witches and warlocks are capable of controlling electricity. She's a demon angel hybrid, not a witch. Although, she did heal Alek and stopped the agonizing pain Eric was inflicting on him. Sophia had even asked looked down at her with disbelief and shock, even slight fear. Angels and half demons were supposed to be fearless, but Gia had frightened everyone in the Burns Guard. She even frightened Eric, who's father was the demon of fear.

She didn't look up when she heard her door open and click shut. The bed dipped beside her and she saw her brother sitting on the bed. He ran his hands through his black hair, sighing. "Alexander told me what happened last night." He said and she sat up, drawing her knees up to her chest. "Which part?" She grumbled and he looked at her with his dark red eyes and slitted pupils. "What do you mean by that?" He asked. She felt her cheeks flush slightly. "We were in the middle of a hot make-out session before that hell dweller showed up." She said, her words rushed. He narrowed his eyes at her. "You weren't going to...?" He trailed off and she knew what he meant and shrugged. "I have no idea, he said that we probably would have." Azael looked down for a second and looked back up, twisting his body towards her. "I know I may say that I would kill that kid if he touches you, but I won't. I remember how depressed and lonely you were before you met him. I've also heard that you've changed him, too." He said and she didn't look up, knowing it was true. "I may actually be able to like him, Gia. He treats you well and looks after you before he looks after himself, and that's saying something especially if he's not a virgin."

"Why does that make any difference?" She snapped in irritation. "Just because he had sex and I haven't means he's going to use me? You should know me better than that. I have more restraint than most." Azael raised his eyebrows at her. "It sure as hell didn't look like you had much restraint yesterday," he said and she felt her eyes burn, but it wasn't the same burning sensation she's grown used to when her eyes changed. It was the burning of tears in her eyes. She got images of her years with her foster families, of how much of an impact they all put on her. If it weren't for them, she wouldn't be here. Gia knew that the stress was getting to her. Sandra and Ryan still needed to be found and she was developing more powers everyday. She looked at Azael with narrowed eyes, tears blurring her vision. "Do you want to know why I haven't had much restraint lately? Because kissing him and being with him takes my mind off of everything that's happened! I only think of him and his touch when I'm with him." She said, choking on a sob.

More and more images flowed through her mind, images that she didn't recognize but felt like she should recognize them. Her head started to hurt and pounded. She felt like her brain was about to explode. Suddenly, she froze. An image of Azael and Asmoday laying on the ground with an arrow in their chests flashed in her eyes. The image of Eric's sister, Ariane, flashed in her eyes. She had silver eyes with slitted pupils and was smiling sadistically, her incisors sharp and gleaming, dripping with black blood. Gia blinked, the images fading but stayed in the back of her mind. She saw Alek sitting in front of her, her face cupped in his hands and fear and worry obvious in his wide emerald eyes. She wrapped her arms around his neck, burying her face into his shoulder and cried, her body trembling. He wrapped his strong arms around her waist and held her against his warm body, the feeling of safety slowly flowing into her. Alek rubbed her back gently, whispering sweet nothing's into her ear and kissing her neck. Gia saw that Azael had left the room and rested her head on Alek's chest while he rocked her in his lap. She heard his heart beating erratically, no doubt with panic.

She looked up at him and saw pain in his emerald eyes. Why was he in pain? She sniffled, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand and sitting up and straddling him. He closed his eyes and buried his face in the crook of her neck. He shook his head. "What're we going to do?" He asked no one in particular. She sighed and kissed the side of his neck, making him tense slightly. Her window suddenly smashed and she was out of her bed and had her dagger tightly in her grip within seconds. Alek shot up and stepped over the shattered glass with his boots crunching on the pieces. He bent down and grabbed a piece of a strange ash-colored stone that radiated dark energy and a piece of parchment was attached to it. She saw his face pale and he walked up to her. The words on the parchment were looped and curved in skilled cursive. She read it.

Giana, your time is running out. More blood will be shed if you do not give me what I want. You have a week to think over a plan and then I will be there as the sun licks the sky with fire.

Gia's face drained of blood and she ripped the parchment out of his hands. She flipped it over and saw nothing. Anger coursed through her, burning in her veins like fire. She felt heat spread throughout her body and the paper lit up in flames, burning to ashes. She gasped and backed up against the wall. The heat simmered down until she was cold again. She hugged her elbows and dug her nails into her skin. Alek pulled her against him and she wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling his lips down to hers. She buried her fingers in his golden hair and he pulled her closer, pressing her back against the wall. His hand slid down to her thigh and hitched her leg onto his hip. He ground against her and she moaned softly, pleasure flying through her body. Her hands slid over his clothed torso and she put her hand over his racing heart. They broke apart, both of them panting. His lips pressed open-mouthed kisses all down her neck and over her collarbone while his hips moved against hers, making her feel pleasurable sensations she's never felt before.

Her hands dove underneath his shirt, her fingers touched his soft skin and she was in heaven. She tilted her head back against the wall, her quiet moans and whimpers and his soft grunts filled her ears. Suddenly, her door burst open and she very reluctantly shoved him away. Cali stood in the doorway, tears threatening to fall. She looked directly at Gia. "Gia, something happened." She simply said and turned out of the room with Gia on her heels. Alek trailed behind them, shooting questions at his sister like, "What the hell is going on?" and "What happened?". Cali brought them out to the woods. Gia saw her brother on the forest floor, an arrow in his chest. She fell to her knees and bent over his body, hissing through her teeth when she got burned when she touched him. Tears filled her eyes and she broke. Her body convulsed in huge sobs and trembled. Alek knelt down beside her and held her in his lap. Cali looked away from the scene, tears falling down her face. Alek saw the note on parchment and knew Gia saw it also.

You can't save him, so don't even try. I warned you, didn't I?
