"Sparrow! Don't risk it!" Jay yelled over the sound of firing guns. "Sparrow!" He kept yelling at me. Although I couldn't answer. I was trying to fight off the pain numbing darkness that was around me. If only I knew how I would go. I was hoping old age but that seemed impossible now. I was fighting so hard to stay awake that when Jay picked me up I was startled. I couldn't pull myself up, I went limb, Jay held my head up and my eyes fluttered. "Sparrow, stay with me I can't lose you now. I..." his voice faded before I could realize that I was so cold and the pain was gone.
Chapter 1
I WOKE UP TO the feeling of sunshine on my face, and my Mother yelling for me to wake up from down stairs. "Sparrow come downstairs.... Pancakes!"
"Okay mom! I'm coming!" I hopped out of my large, warm, cozy bed and headed to the closet. My closet wasn't that big but it was big enough to walk in. I look through my tank tops and picked a camouflage green one. I then look through my pants and picked a pair of grey sweatpants. I go over to my dresser and brush my hair a few times and put it up into a sloppy bun.
I go down stairs and hear dad yelling at the TV saying "You never work! Always static!" I hear a few thumps and then dad said
"There we go! Much better!" I shake my head, and softly laugh. "What's on the TV dad?" "I don't know but it's the Prince announcing something I can't make it out though." I head over to the kitchen table and sit down in front of my plate of pancakes which was smothered in syrup. Just the way I like it.
Mom looks over at me and smiles and says "You planning to go to war?" She slightly laughs. "No mom just felt a little lazy today." My brother whispers at his plate saying "Like every other day." Then he starts to stuff his scrambled eggs in his mouth. "Oh ha ha ha very funny." I say sarcastically.
Suddenly the back door breaks down and we all jump at the sound and turn around to see men with guns and camouflage running towards me. I yell and start running upstairs the men caught me by my arms and pulled me back.
