"So…"
Akahana looked at Akiyo, who was reading. They both were sitting on a bench under a tree in the park. Akiyo sighed, scratching his head. "You don't have to thank me. I saw you write those. So I thought it's better to just get you out of there." He said, eyes still glued to the book. Akahana paused for a while, then smiled. "Whatever you say. Still…" She paused, before taking out a book from her bag and giving it to him.
"That's for you. Thank you for saving me."
Akiyo blinked, stopping and looking at the book. "Huh…"
"I noticed that you read books mostly all the time. So here's one for you." Akahana smiled. "I know,it's not mystery. But I just finished reading this and it's good. So I think you would like it,mainly cause the girl there loves inventing stuff."
Akiyo stared at the book, blinking. The title was 'The Series of Unfortunate Events'. And it caught his eye. It seemed interesting for him.
He wanted to take it. But of course,he wouldn't. It'll look like he helped her for a prize:
"Take it. It's fine." Akahana smiled. Akiyo looked at her, before sighing and taking the book. "Okay… Thanks…" He mumbled. Akahana stood up,looking up at the sky. It was dark, and it looked like it's about to…
No,it already came. It started raining. Akiyo stood up,shoving the book in his backpack. "Do you have an umbrella in there ?" He asked, slowly getting soaked as the rain went harder. Akahana shook her head. "Sorry." She mumbled. "Aish. I just hope the books won't get wet." He mumbled.
"Let's just enjoy the rain." Akahana smiled, starting to walk. Akiyo looked at her plainly. "Are you nuts ? We'll get sick." He said, looking around for some roof to stay under. Akahana sighed, looking at him. "You always act so plain. Why don't you try having fun for a bit ?" She smiled, taking his hand. "Let's go !" She laughed, running off. "H-h-hey !" Akiyo was dragged, having no choice to follow. "Just follow me !" Akahana turned to him, then back forward. Akiyo looked at her, startled. It always confused him. He always acted so rude at her. He even didn't help her putting the airbed in his room !
"Hey… Why are you doing this ?"
"Huh ?" Akahana stopped, turning around to look at him. Both of them were soaking wet already. Akiyo looked away, his eyebrows furrowed. Drops of water from the rain dripped from his hair, along with his clothes. And to the edge of his long sleeve from his right arm, some making their way to his hand—which was being held by Akahana's. Akahana's light brown eyes stared at him, blinking innocently. "Doing what ?" She asked.
Akiyo sighed. "Dragging me around and doing stuff to make me happy… Just like giving me that book." He looked at her. "All I did was to be rude at you.." His eyebrows furrowed even more. "You don't remember, but I did nothing to go rude and ignore you when you tried being friends with me in the real world…"
"Why are you doing these stuff ?"
Akahana paused for a while. Then, she smiled, taking her hand from being entwined with his and patting his head.
"I want to be your best friend."
