"Absolutely not," Steve places his hands on his hips
I cross my arms," I'm going.
"There's no way I'm allowing you to go on this mission," He firmly protests.
"Come on, Steve, it's the last Scepter mission. You could use my help," I attempt to persuade," I'm the one who found the scepter, I should get to go."
"Emily, no. We need to keep you safe if something were to happen-"
I cut him off, "Nothing will. I'm just asking to tag along. I'll hang out with my dad and only go in if there's a code green."
He sighs, "I'm not going to win this am I?"
"Not a chance," I smirk.
He swears under his breath, "Okay, fine, but you will only go in if there's a code green and leave the ferret at the Tower."
"Yes! And language," I said before grabbing Fin Fang Foom and running off. I run through the halls and crash into Maria Hill aka the woman who hates my guts.
"Where's the fire?" She asks with no amusement in her voice as she picks my ferret off of the ground.
I take a step back," Sorry, I didn't see you there. I haven't seen you in a while, have you been avoiding me?"
"Yes, I have," She replies in a monotone voice.
I shrug, taking my pet from her cold unforgiving hands," Fair enough, got to go." I side-step her and walk away.
"You sure you're up to go on this mission?" Natasha questions, "You haven't gone on one since the hormone bomb."
"I can still kick Clint's ass, so I'm fine," I comment and a ball is thrown at my head. Fin Fang Foom begins to play with the ball.
Clint scowls, "Shut up, Millie."
"Don't call me Millie," I tell him once again. "Plus I'm not lying."
"So what's the deal with your cousin?" Clint asks, obviously trying to change the subject.
I take a long sip from my Starbucks before answering, "In simple terms, we are descendants of people who were experimented on by Kree aliens. Skye's mom is alive but evil and when I went solo she kidnapped me and trained me on how to use my powers then erased my memory. A few months later, after Skye disappeared she took me to meet her mom who gave me a DVD that showed me a video of a conversation we had the last time we met. So I thought she was cool but then SHIELD got involved and everything got messy."
"You're half-alien?" Fin mocks Clint's posture as he asks this question.
"Inhuman, to be exact," I clarify.
Natasha glares at me, "You got kidnapped and didn't tell anyone?"
My eyes widen as I realize what I just did, "Uh, I...have memory problems. Brainwashing and all that."
"And the DVD?"
I look down at my feet, "Technically, you guys never said that if my evil half-alien aunt gave me a DVD of a conversation that I don't remember, I had to tell you."
"For future reference, next time tell us," She warns.
"Duly noted," I give her an awkward salute. "Do you think we should help SHIELD out?"
Clint thinks it over, "Last time I checked, we weren't invited to join the new SHIELD even though we've been working there for years. And I'm more interested in finally seeing your powers."
"The answer is still no," I blatantly refuse.
"Why not? It's not that big of a deal unless you are a huge cosmic entity that enjoys eating planets," He specifically asks.
