╒ "Will you find yourself
broken and heartless?"╛
A girl-shaped figure of light is hung up by multiple machines, strands of colorful light being sucked straight out of her. She groans weakly, hanging her head. It's a pitiful picture. The light show is stunning but the girl in the middle of it all is so tired and worn-down that she doesn't even look alive.
For almost 4 years now she was free. If she's being honest, she wanted to last ten more years and even it out. 14 years of freedom to combat the first 14 years of her life. That was more of a fantasy and she knew that. There's not a long life expectancy in the type of life she leads. And getting close to people? It never ends well but she doesn't have a choice. She has a theory of sorts, she's had a lot of time to think about this type of stuff lately. She thinks that bigger her aura is the more powerful she is. It's like an extra boost. That's why when someone dies she gets weakened.
That's why when Thanos massacred Xandar, she blacked for an entire day and that's why she gave him the Stone. She didn't have a choice. She couldn't let it happen to another planet.
Now Thanos has the Power Stone and knows where another four are. Because of her. She's come across 5 of 6 Infinity Stones and she can track them just like she can track people. She's a human GPS.
None of this would've happened if she hadn't run away again. At the same time, all the people she's helped might be dead but if Thanos manages to get all the Stones it won't matter anyway. He'll snap and half the population of the universe will be wiped out.
Her cousin believes every Inhuman is born for a reason. They all have an inescapable fate. If that's true then is this Emily's? To be the person to allow Thanos to accomplish his goal? Or to die a meaningless death?
What's her grand purpose supposed to be if she's going to die here at the hands of Thanos and his children?
Ebony Maw, one of the more annoying members of the Black Order, floats over to his master. "The real Space Stone is with what's left of the Asgardians on their ship. Only a few hours ago, their planet was blown up. They have no defenses and are considerably vulnerable."
Proxima Midnight smiles, walking over to the girl, "You wouldn't know anyone there, would you? After your reaction to Xandar, I'm not sure you'd survive anymore."
"Strong words coming from a goat-lady," Emily groans out weakly. "It's really hard to take anything you say seriously."
"Begin the assault," Thanos orders. His children all leave the room, presumably to prepare, leaving only Thanos and Emily. He studies the girl curiously, "I suppose you're part of that little team on your planet. The Avengers?"
