Chapter 27

Author's Note: So in this chapter there'll be some low-key drama with Liz and Flash. I also added a Civil War reference so comment whenever you spot it!

"Y/n..." someone whispers next to you. "Y/n, wake up." you finally recognize his voice, and you groan, shifting to the other side of the bed. Peter had climbed up the stairs of the bunk bed and was trying to wake you up. He pushed the hair out of your face, and smiled at your sleepy figure. "Come on, y/n, we're gonna be late." he says softly.

"No!" you groan again, and change sides so he can't play with your hair anymore.

"Seriously, y/n. Wake up." he says. His tone turned more serious, so this time you did get up. You get ready quickly, and put together a cute outfit, a little warmer than the ones you were wearing for the past two weeks since it was starting to get colder. You have a quick chat with May and Peter while you have breakfast about how your weekend had been at the Stark internship. After that you grab your backpack and went to school with Peter.

When you walk inside the school, you head towards your lockers, and on your way there you see Ned, but no sign of Michelle yet.

"We have... Biology!" you say as you close the door of your locker, but what you didn't know is that Peter and Ned weren't listening to you while they had their own conversation. When you close the locker door, Flash pops out from behind the door, like he did that time, startling you again. "Gosh! You gotta stop doing that." you say with a smile, while closing your backpack.

"Oh, you know you like it." Flash says with a smirk, and you roll your eyes, still smiling.

"Whatever." you say. "Ned, Peter, and I have Bio and we don't wanna be late." you say, as you start walking to Peter and Ned.

"Babe, I have Bio with you too, haven't you realized yet?" he asks, and you blush when he calls you "babe".

"Uhh, I guess not." you say awkwardly. You walk past Peter and Ned, as you walk with Flash, and you can already feel Peter's eyes behind you.

You get to class, and sit between Peter and Ned, not wanting to have another awkward conversation with Flash.

You're halfway through the class when the teacher starts asking higher-level questions about the topic you were studying.

"Alright, who can give me a scientific definition of homeostasis?" the teacher asks, while walking around the room. You put your hand up without hesitation, thinking that more people would know the answer and that you probably wouldn't get picked. But when you see that no one else put their hand up and that they were looking at you, you put your hand now, but the teacher had already seen you. "Y/n?" she calls. "Do you know the answer?" she asks and you nod.

"It's the tendency of a system, especially the physiological system of higher animals, to maintain internal stability, owing to the coordinated response of its parts to any situation or stimulus that would tend to disturb its normal condition or function." you say as if it was the most obvious thing in the world, and the whole class turns to look at you with their jaws dropped. Peter and Ned both look at you with wide eyes, while Flash smirks at you proudly from a few rows in front of you.

"Wow! That was a hard one, well done y/n!" the teacher congratulates you, and you smile shyly. Thankfully, the teacher goes back to teaching and all the attention on you fades away. Whenever everyone's attention was on you, whether it was with the Avengers or at school, you got very self-conscious, not insecure, but very anxious instead. The whole class returned their attention towards the teacher, except Peter.

"That was amazing." he whispers leaning close to your ear, which sends shivers down your spine.
