Chapter Seven| Promises

The board from earlier had begun to shuffle through the next event as we all waited in anticipation. Stopping on the screen were the words 'Cavalry battle'.

"Let me explain. The participants can form teams of two to four people as they wish. It's basically the same as a regular cavalry battle, but one difference is that each person has been assigned a point value after the last game."

The board then changed to the list of names revealing how many points each person had. "And the point value assigned to first place is..ten million!" Holy crap, poor Midoriya. Glancing over at the paling boy I couldn't help but grimace at the glares surrounding him. Well, this is a competition after all. There's no room to be feeling bad.

"It's survival of the fittest for those on the bottom to overthrow the top! You have fifteen minutes to build your teams!"

Ah crap, who in the world am I going to team up with? Glancing around I noticed majority of the people gathering around Bakugou, they seemed desperate to get on his team. Probably not a good idea to go over there. Turning in the opposite direction I felt a hand gently grab hold of my shoulder. "(Y/n)-chan! Will you please team with me?!" Looking back I was met with pleading round eyes that belonged to non other than Midoriya. I wanted to decline him, I really did. But the pang of guilt I had for my friend was too much to ignore.

'Damn it, why must I be so nice?'

"AFTER FIFTEEN MINUTES TO FORM TEAMS AND TALK STRATEGY, TWELVE CAVALRY TEAMS ARE LINED UP ON THE FIELD!"

Uraraka, Tokoyami, and I all held up Midoriya as he tightened the band around his head. I couldn't help but stare at all the other teams as they eyed us viciously. I can't believe I decided to do this. Sighing, I glanced up at Midoriya who was currently staring ahead with great determination. "I'm counting on you guys!" The three of us all gave a nod before focusing ahead again.

"NOW, LETS GO! COUNTING DOWN TO THE BRUTAL BATTLE ROYAL!"

"THREE!"

"TWO!"

"ONE!"

"START!!"

Without any hesitation everyone in every direction began charging head on at us. "Make your choice Midoriya!" Tokoyami had spoken up, readying himself with his dark shadow as the teams grew near. "Of course, our move is to run away!"

"I won't let you!"

Before we could make a run for it, our feet had begun to sink into the ground. "I can't move!" Uraraka let out a slight cry as we attempted to wiggle our legs free. Thinking quick, I pressed myself further in as I ignited a glow around my body. "Close your eyes and hang on!" With the four of us all huddled together I quickly launched us free with my burst. We didn't get very high since I was on the outer edge, but it was enough to get us out of the trap.

Landing back on our feet we didn't waste any time in making a run for it. Tokoyami was able to block an attack made by Jiro while I shot a blast at someone on the right. "Try not to get your light near dark shadow."

"Got it!" I gave a nod over to Tokoyami as we continued to run for the hills. Two more teams were gaining up on us when Uraraka was suddenly unable to move. "I'm stuck!" That was Mineta's ball, but where in the world was that perverted shrimp? Glancing around my eyes locked onto Shoji who was running straight at us with Mineta peaking from his webbed arms. So that's where he was hiding. Suddenly, a tongue had launched itself at us from beside Mineta. Luckily Midoriya was able to dodge the attack and the band wrapped around his head remained untouched.
