-----Joon Young's POV-----
"Mocha, could you please hurry up? You don't want to be late, do you?" Four months have passed by, but Monique's condition has remained the same. She has yet to wake up, but on the bright side, our son Joon-ki was doing great. He was gaining weight little by little.
It was quiet. Usually, I'd get a response from her, but not this time. Holding Jr in my arms, I climbed the stairs and opened the door to her room. She was crying in the corner. "What if Mommy never wakes up?" Her little voices held so much pain; it hurt me.
Jr. wanted to be let down, so I placed him on his feet. He had gone straight to his sister and hugged her. Tears fell from the corner of his eyes too, and I couldn't take it anymore. "I miss Mommy too..."
Drawing closer to my children, I wrapped them in my arms. "I miss her too. Don't you think she'll miss us if we don't go and see her? I believe she knows we're there with her, and our love is giving her strength. Who knows... she may be awake when we get there."
At least I had hope that Monique would wake up soon. We all missed her terribly. These months have been emotionally hard to deal with. I took the kids to see her and Joon-ki every 2 days for 4 months, but I could tell it was breaking their hearts. With hope restored in us all, we got in the car and drove to the hospital.
It was total chaos the moment we walked through the doors. The nurse, Amy Lee, Ji-hoon's girlfriend, spotted us and guided us to a private room. "What's going on?"
"Is it Mommy?" Mocha spoke up, close to tears again.
"Actually, Monique is..." Before Amy could finish her sentence, her brother Dr. David Lee opened the door and smiled.
"Follow me." We followed after him in silence, not knowing what to say. After he led us to the 3rd floor, my heart started to pound in fear. David stopped at Monique's room and ushered us inside. "Go on..."
Mocha quickly opened the door and before I had the chance to stop her she rushed in. "MOMMY!!"
Rushing in after her, I fell to my knees balling my eyes out seeing Monique wide awake, holding Joon-ki in her arms. Jr. got out of my hold and ran to his Mother. "My babies!!! I've missed you so much!" She cried while hugging Mocha and Jr. They were all careful not to crush Joon-ki in the process.
Simply seeing him out of N.I.C.U was a miracle in itself. I looked up as a hand touched my shoulder. Rising to my feet, I engulfed Monique in my embrace. "God, I've missed you so much!" We looked into each other's eyes and kissed. "I love you!"
"I love you too!" My world stopped once the words left her mouth. She further erased my doubt as she finally admitted her feelings out loud. "I love you, and I want you to come back. I want us to be a family again..."
"You don't know how long I've waited to hear you say those words." Bringing her back into my chest, I kissed the top of her head and led her back to the bed. I didn't want her overdoing it. She handed me our youngest son, and I melted at how beautiful he was.
Thank you, God for restoring my family. I promise to take care of them the right way this time around... I expressed my gratitude to Him within my heart. As I sat down on the bed, Mocha and Jr. hovered around us talking to their baby brother. His eyes were attentive to their voices, and for the first time since he was born, he showed us his gummy smile.
**
The following weeks have been hectic between, Monique and Joon-ki finally coming home, to us getting remarried privately at the hospital with just our friends and family as witnesses. Trying to adjust to life as we once knew it was a challenge, but we weren't alone. Truthfully, I was surprised that Monique wanted to get married before she was discharged from the hospital.
