"You're dressed!" Merlin asked in shock as Quinn who had her hair up in a bun and her purple dress on that she knew Arthur likes, quickly closed the door and turned to Merlin with a fake smile and the nod of her head, "guess who for?" Quinn raised her eyebrow at Merlin who turn to Arthur as he looked up at them. "Nothing gets past you, does it, Merlin?" Merlin threw Quinn a look causing her to roll her eyes as she grabbed his breakfast plates.
"What- You're supposed to be wearing these! Your father's bestowing a knighthood on one of your men this morning!" Merlin fumbled around the room, "I'm giving it a miss." Merlin's head shot up as Quinn looked towards her brother. "Won't the King mind?" Merlin asked Arthur who just smirks lightly, "Not if you, er, cover for me, again. By the way, thanks for yesterday, I heard you ended up in the stocks. Bad luck." Quinn wanted to smack the idiot but with the way he had been acting, she wasn't going to risk it.
"They were throwing potatoes at me. It's only supposed to be rotten fruit."
"I'm not sure there's any hard-and-fast rules, but if it's any consolation, I think it was worth it." Arthur laughed as Quinn placed a hand on her brother's shoulder, her eyes telling him that Arthur was a idiot and might always be one. "What? It went well?" Quinn asked with the cock of her head, "Great. Fantastic. She's incredible." Quinn rolled her eyes at Arthur's look before she snorted lightly, "Don't worry. I'll find a way to get you out of it." Merlin promised with a smile as Arthur smirked, "Just make sure you don't end up in the stocks this time."
"I won't. I think I'm starting to get the hang of this whole deception lark." Quinn suddenly laughed before turning away from her brothers offended look.
——
Let's just say that Quinn was right to laugh when later in the day Merlin was being pelted with rotten food in the stocks...... Again.
——
Merlin enters covered in rotten food, while Gaius and Quinn watched him huff and sit down. "Not again Merlin, surely?" Gaius frowned at Merlin as his sister picked food out of his hair with a small smile. "You would think that the appeal of pelting the same person with fruit would wear off after a while, but, oh, no!" Laughing Quinn got up to grab a wet cloth and bucket, "I heard that Arthur wasn't at the knighting ceremony."
"Yeah, he wanted to make the most of his time left with Sophia." Merlin shivered in disgust at the thought of Sophia and Arthur together. "So you helped him?" Gaius frowned at the boy as he shrugged and grunted when his sister pulled his hair. "I'm his servant, I had to." Quinn rolled her eyes at the idiots lie but didn't say a word. "You shouldn't have done that, Merlin. I fear that Sophia may not be all that she seems." Quinn looked up at Gaius as he watched Merlin give him a funny look.
