Shoto and I lay in our rooms, our faces wet with salty tears.
Shoto had a bandage over his left eye. I had one over my right. I rolled over to my side and looked at my brother.
"Sho-chan?" I asked. "Do you think we'll ever see out of our eyes?"
"I think so, Yuki-chan." Shoto replied in a muffled voice. The door opened. I pulled the covers over my head, not wanting to face my dad.
"Shoto? Yuki?" I heard my sister call. After a while she sighed. "Asleep already? It's only seven-thirty."
"Let them rest, they have an early day tomorrow." My older brother's voice echoed down the hallway. "Besides, they don't have the luxury of not having to be watched by dad."

Day in and day out, I'd train alongside Shoto. We threw ice and fire at each other. We spent hours in the bathroom, rubbing each other's backs as we threw up. Shoto had cut my hair, when he had accidentally set it ablaze during one of our training sessions. I had helped make dinner for us when we were the only two home.
We had nurtured each other into what we were now.
Both of us bore through the harsh training, and both of us carried scars from our past. As I looked into the mirror, I sighed. The horrid scar that ran over my right eye. I looked like a delinquent, with my terribly tied hair.
"Yuki?" Shoto opened the door. I jumped.
"What?" I asked. I looked at him.
"Do I look alright?" he asked.
"Better than I do." I grumbled. Shoto sighed as he walked over to me. He gently pulled out the green scrunchie out of my hair and brushed it down.
"Can I braid it?" he asked. I nodded. Shoto's delicate hands moved swiftly as he braided my hair. After a minute, he got up. "Does this look good to you?"
I nodded. "You do everything better than I do." Shoto grunted.
"Let's go."

Twenty minutes later, we stood at the front gate of the prestigious U.A. high school. I tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear as I heard Shoto take a deep breath.
"Let's go."
