Pen Pal Announcement

The three weeks flew by too fast.

I walked into class the first day of exams to a tense atmosphere. Kaminari, Ashido, and Kirishima all looked like they were on the verge of exploding.

Shoto headed to his seat. I glanced at Ojiro. Hagakure was standing next to him, dancing around. Ojiro himself looked super nervous.

Mr. Aizawa walked in looking as tired as usual. "G'morning class," he said. "We're starting the exams today. You'll have three days to do the written exams,"

I saw Kirishima slump back into his seat.

"And I need to see Kirishima, Todoroki, Uraraka, and Sato after class," Mr. Aizawa said.

"Which one?" Kaminari asked.

"Yuki,"

Uh oh. What did I do?

"Start when I say go. You have to put your pencil down as soon as the timer goes off,"

"Yes sir!" We all said.

"And... go,"

Pencils scratched across paper. I scrawled equations on my paper in tiny print. Answer the question, check the answer, do about five more questions, fill in the bubbles.

The test made Ectoplasm look like a beast. It really wasn't terribly hard. I can't say the same for Kirishima and Aoyama, since when the testing session ended for the day, they both looked dejected.

I stepped out in the hall with Kirishima. Sato was already there. Uraraka and Mr. Aizawa came out as the other students were leaving.

"I wanted to pull you four to the side, because you guys have been chosen as pen pals from various high schools," Mr. Aizawa said as he handed each of us a letter. "Maybe three of the four kids are second years in high schools across the country,"

"Wait wait, so we're writing to second years?" Sato asked.

"You can also text them or email them," Mr. Aizawa said. "That is all. I have a meeting I have to get to,"

I met Shoto at the front of the school, holding the letter. "What's that?" he asked.

"I BET'S IT'S A LETTER OF EXPULSION!" A voice said behind me. Shoto rolled his eyes.

"Monoma,"

"I can't believe it! She's getting expelled from U.A.!" Monoma jeered, his smile growing larger and larger.

"What is this guy?" I asked.

"Come on," Shoto grabbed my arm and pulled me along the side walk.

"Tell me why you have that letter," He said as we walked up to the house.

"Pen pal...s?" I answered unsurely.

"Pen pals, huh," Shoto said. "Well, have fun talking to someone you're never going to meet,"

I opened my letter and read it.

Hi!

I'm Hana Watanabe. I'm a second year at Shiketsu High School, and I'm excited to be able to write to a U.A. student. If you can tell, my penmanship isn't the best, so I thought it would be better if we gave each other our email addresses or our phone numbers.

My phone number is 123-456-1987 (Don't call it, I just made it up). I hope to hear from you soon!

I pulled out my phone and put her information in. I texted her.

Hey!

You are Hana Watanabe, correct?

I am!

I received your letter today.

I'm Yuki Todoroki.

Oh nice to meet you, Yuki!

Are you a second year?

No, I'm a first year.

So what's your quirk?

It's called time travel

It lets me go back in time for up to an hour

What's yours?

Half-hot half-cold

Oh you're a hybrid!

Just like my cousin!

And so our conversation went on until the middle of the night, when Hana's mom apparently took her phone away because she had an upcoming exam.

I honestly should have put my phone down earlier, because I was pooped the second day of exams.

I silently cursed my phone as I broke my pencil for the third time. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Shoto smiling.

I grasped my hair as I became more and more frustrated, before leaning back in my seat and letting frost dance in front of my face. Uraraka started looking at me out of the corner of her eye, but I didn't exactly care.

And then I saw Ojiro's tail. It was kind of shaking... no it was wagging like a dog's tail.

That. Is. So. Adorable.

I want it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I walked my classroom for the first time. My hair was in a tight braid down my back, and I had an eye patch over my right eye, to hide my scar. I fidgeted with the sleeves of the uniform.
"Could you introduce yourself please?" the teacher had asked me.
"I'm Todoroki," I said. "Yuki Todoroki. Nice to meet you,"
"You look like Endeavor," a kid in the front had said, his fingers wrapping around each other. "You have his frame and his mou-"
"Shut up, Aido," someone said from the back. "You're making her uncomfortable,"
"Todoroki, if you would go sit down next to Honenuki," the teacher had directed me to the back of the classroom. I sat down in the seat next to a boy with ash blonde hair and no lips. Like, his teeth were on the outside of his mouth.
"Hey Todoroki," he said with a smile. "I'm Juzo Honenuki,"
"Hey,"  I said, looking down at his shoes.
"You're a shy one," he said with a laugh. "Todoroki, you don't have to stare at my shoes. There's nothing interesting down there,"
I nodded.
Two seats in front of me, a girl was giving me a nasty look. Her mouth was curled up in a scowl, and her bangs hid her eyes. They were probably looking at me in disgust. The billowy sleeves of an orange kimono stuck out of her uniform.
She was scary.
