Chapter 3

Henry was locked up in one of the small cell the Mystic Falls' police station posessed. It was located in the basement, next to the space where the officers kept the recorded history of criminals and their vice alongside the files of the countless victims the town has held.

The lost Mikaelson sibling was sitting alone in the dust, weak, while Damon, Bonnie and Klaus were interrogating him.

"So you say that you have been alive since the past two decades?" Damon inquired while noting something on a cumbled piece of paper.

"Yes," Henry sighed, as he gave his brother a soft look before adressing to him, "Niklaus, tell them to let me go. I did nothing wrong. Can I please have a little bit of blood? I'm hungry."

Klaus looked away as he couldn't bear the sight of his brother begging for his release. It really hurt him -it has been so long since he had seen him and he was now locked up behind bars.

"How is this possible?" Damon continued on, ignoring his last request, "How come you weren't turned into a vampire a thousand years ago like your siblings?"

"How much would I give to know," the Mikaelson that was sitting in the cell confessed, "I have no idea."

"How can you not know?" Bonnie asked in disbelief, trying to understand and believe what he was telling them.

The vampire that was being interrogated glanced in her direction, ostensibly surprised to see her here. He didn't notice her yet as she was a little more isolated from the others, standing next to the exit. She appeared to him even more dazzingly and aesthetically beautiful than the other night.

"I'm sorry that I don't question miracles. I woke up alive next to my grave in the cemetery," Henry let out, "When you wake up from death, you don't try to investigate. You just live and stay grateful."

It seemed like he couldn't understand why Bonnie was questionning him. She knew he was the one who had saved her from the person they were looking for.

"Well, living and staying grateful won't cut it for our investigation. Until we have concrete proof that you aren't the killer or that we know how the hell you've been brought back to life, you'll stay cuffed to..." Damon started, but was cut off short by Kol who made his entrance in the room, an impassive expression on his face.

"Free him. He didn't do anything," he interrupted the heated conversation that was going on.

He walked towards the cell unit and averted his glimpse up at them. Damon looked like he was about to burst out in flames. He clearly had enough of losing the control of the situation once again. Things were going in all the different directions that existed except the one he had mapped and carved out for the whole process of the investigation.

"And how do you know that?" Bonnie questionned, rather confused.

Kol grabbed the cell's key and unlocked the metallic door before responding :

"Newsflash, there's been another death reported, and the crime happened during Henry's incarceration, meaning that he's guilty of nothing except maybe saying the truth for once."

Bonnie examined Kol's eyes. He looked pissed -oh he was pissed. But why would he? The brother his family lost was beeing freed, shouldn't he be a tiny bit excited about it?

For Klaus, on the other hand, it was bliss. He walked up to his brother and hugged him. Bonnie had never seen the Original hybrid that eager to meet anyone. Kol cringed at this awkward mark of affection and threw a blood pouch at his younger sibling once his two brothers had broken their hug.
