**Akela's POV**

I could feel the wolf following me, but he was falling farther and farther behind. Something inside me whimpered at that thought. I could feel the stream getting deeper and faster, and I could hear a roaring in the distance, but my fear clouded my brain. My fear was the only thing I could think about. I instinctively stayed in the water to try to mask my scent. The roaring was getting closer, and the stream was still getting deeper; it had now become a river, but I kept running, trying to escape the wolf that was still behind me. My paws barely touched the bottom of the river. Another step, and my feet no longer touched the bottom and the water was pulling me forward.

The roaring was close and I could recognize it  now as the sound of a waterfall. Now I was fighting to escape the water, no longer worried about the wolf. My body was spinning and falling and being pushed under the water through the rapids. My body hit a large rock and I let out a loud yelp. The cold water surrounded me and filled my lungs, and then I was just falling, no longer surrounded by water.

I opened my eyes and looked down to see the sharp rocks poking out through the swirling waters beneath me. 'I'm going to die,' I thought.

**Caleb's POV**

The stream was getting deeper. Even though I was a large wolf, I was nowhere near the same size as a of my mate in here tiger form. I jumped out of the stream, which was now a river, still following it. I could hear a waterfall in the distance. I picked up my pace, now fearing for my mate because she was still in the water. I heard a loud yelp right near the edge of the waterfall and dread filled my heart. I was too late.
