Chapter 7

In this chapter, the evening and night have passed. Over the evening, your mother has had her attention entirely on your brother as he has been doing well at school. She doesn't seem to acknowledge the achievements of your first day and you feel a little isolated. It is now the next morning.

I'm awoken to the bright morning sun blasting on my eyes. "Rise and shine sleepy head! Come on poppet!" Mum seems to be in a very cheery mood and shakes me in my bed. I groan loudly and try to push her off. After she doesn't stop, I end up shouting at her - "OKAY! I get it! I'm up okay?!" She looks surprised and worried about my sudden outburst. I roll my eyes and sigh. Then I politely ask her to leave which she does.

I run my hands through my hair and exhale slowly. Today will be fine. I check my timetable to see what lessons I have today. Science and study, then I'm done for the day... I laughed in relief. Only 2 lessons and only one of them has a proper teacher. I sluggishly mope around my room, collecting what clothes might look about decent to wear. I throw on some skinny jeans and a flowy top that says 'cest la vie' on the front. I grab my bag and seeing that I'm a bit early, I walk downstairs to grab some cereal. I choose Lucky Charms as I'm going to need all the luck I can get today... I fill a bowl with cereal. I then pour myself a glass of water and take a seat at the table.

My brother ran down the stairs and slapped the back of my head. I jumped as he did so and exhaled. I chose not to react... Keep your cool. He sat at the table in front of me and began to throw little bits of whatever he could find on the table at me. I clenched my hand around my spoon and ate my cereal slowly. He then started to comment on my outfit - "You're going to school like that? You look shit!". I grab my glass of water and throw the contents on him. "Shut up! Just shut up!". I slam my hands on the table. Mom stomps in and looks at me then my brother then back to me again. She clenches her fists then swings her arm up and points towards the door. "Get out!!" I suddenly realise she is looking at me and I am the one she wants to leave. "Now [F/N]!" I feel myself tearing up. In one swift movement, I grab my bag and my phone and turn myself to the door, walking out. I slam the door and let the tears fall...
