Chapter 8

My eyes are filled with tears as I quickly pace away from my house. I didn't do anything wrong! It's him, it's always about him! I scream into my hands and sob even more.

After a few minutes, I wipe my tears and make the sensible decision to walk to school. I can't deal wirh marcus again... Not today... I begin my route to school and walk past my bus stop. My legs will hurt but at least I won't get even more upset... My phone vibrates in my pocket and I pull it out, fully expecting a heated paragraph from my mother. The message... is from Virgil... I feel the corner of my mouth raise and I open the message.

Virgil: Hey F/N. It's Virgil. I'm guessing you missed the bus so I'll meet you at school.

I smile more, just his text seems to make me feel better.

F/N: Hey Virgil! I...

What do I tell him... I'm sure he doesn't want to hear my troubles, especially this early in the morning.

F/N: Hey Virgil! I overslept, sorry! See you in a bit! :)

I continue my endeavour to school... Let's stay optimistic. I'll be fine.
