Dark Authority [Virgil x Reader]

Chapter 14

After Virgil and Logan had left, you smiled to yourself and sat on the couch to wait for your mum and brother. Your eyelids grew tired and you dozed off on the couch.

I flutter my eyelids open as the sun strikes my face. Time for school... It's Friday, just one more day til the weekend. I get up groggily and slowly drag myself to the bathroom. 

I have a shower, wash my hair and brush my teeth. After, I dry my hair and choose an outfit. I choose comfy jeans and a hoodie because who cares. 

I head downstairs and go into the kitchen. I grab 2 breakfast bars, then I pick up my bag and go to the door. "Bye Mum!", I shout as I leave. 

A few minutes from home, I feel my phone buzz in my pocket and look to see a message from Virgil.

Virgil: At the usual spot, see you there.

I smile once I read his message and I pick up my pace, running to our meeting spot.

I spot him at the arranged place and I wave energetically. He gives a small smile and takes his headphones off. I slow down as I reach him. 

"Good... Good morning...", I say, clearly out of breath.

"Morning F/N". We set off to school, walking slower than usual so I catch my breath. 

"Were you alright after you left last night?", I ask, merely to spark conversation.

He nods. "Yeah, Logan gave me a little lecture in the car though".

I give him a peculiar look. "You call him Logan instead of dad?".

He sighs a little. "He's not actually my dad but he acts like my dad so I call him my dad so I don't have to explain".

We arrive at school and I head to science, whilst Virgil heads to Maths. I walk into science and give Logan a big smile. "Morning Sir!"

He gives me a small nod. "Good morning F/N". I walk to my seat and sit. As I sit down, Talyn walks behind me. "Looks like almost everyone is here. Let's get started, class". Logan hands some worksheets out and sets us off to complete them. Talyn turns to me. "Is Virgil ok? He seems... really on edge...". Their question confused me. Virgil was fine earlier... Is he ok? 

"I think so. He's probably just tired!". Talyn shrugs and we continue with our work.

The lesson finishes and we pack up our stuff. I try to pack up quickly so I can find Virgil. I worried about him the entire lesson...

"F/N, can I talk to you a minute?". It's Logan. What did I do...

"Yes, Sir?" Logan waits for the other students to leave and I smile at Talyn, who is waiting. "I'll catch up with you in a minute!". Talyn leaves and I turn back to Logan.

"Firstly F/N, I must thank you again for looking after Virgil last night. After checking his injuries, I estimate that they would a lot more serious if you hadn't tended to them so thank you". I give him a little smile as to say "You're welcome".

"Secondly, Virgil and I want to repay you for your kind actions".

"Oh, it's ok Sir, you don't need to--"

He interrupts me midsentence. "Some relatives are visiting this weekend. We are having dinner together tonight and so, we would like to invite you along". 

I stand there, surprised. "I'd love to Mr Sanders. Thank you for the invite. What time would you like me there?"

He adjusts his glasses. "I will arrange for you to be picked up from your house at approximately 5 pm, is that alright?". He's going to pick me up from my house... What will my mum say? Won't it look a bit weird a teacher picking me up from home? What will I wear?  

"F/N? Is something wrong?". He snaps me back into the room with his stern voice.

"No Sir. 5 pm is brilliant. Thank you". I nod a little and walk out, a little panicky. I start to walk down the hallway, several thoughts racing around my head...
