I Miss You

*Frankie's pov*
[Four months later Derek and I broke up I'm staying at home with my parents while going to Loyola. Derek and I have several classes together I have a meeting with our study group at a café I walk in and go over and say:]

"Hey guys sorry I'm late."

"I got you the usual."

"Thanks."[We hug he kisses my cheek and whispers:]

"You look wonderful cherie. I miss you."

"Derek."

"You don't have to say it. I know I shouldn't be telling you things like that but it's true."

"I was going to say that I miss you too. Maybe we can get dinner sometime this week?"

"I'm pretty swamped with all this class work and everything."

"Yea of course I totally understand. Let's just focus on this criminal justice work."[we talk as we're studying and eating Charlie and Derek go to refill our drinks Jess asks:]

"So what's going on with you and Derek? You two have been making eyes at each other all night."

"We were engaged and I wasn't ready so we called it off."

"Is it hard being friends? I mean you two obviously still have feelings for each other."

"It is actually. It absolutely fucking sucks because I didn't just end our engagement I ended the friendship. It's the little things that he does for me like ordering my favorite food whenever we have our study group reminds me why I fell in love with him. It's awful because I just want to talk to my best friend again."

"I totally get it. Charlie and I have been broken up for three weeks and every time I see him it makes me want to kiss him. He was my first love."

"So was Derek. He's a good guy but sometimes he gets in these moods where he just."

"Did he hit you?"

"No god no. I don't think he'd ever be able to forgive himself if he did. I lost my grandmother recently and it's okay I didn't know her well. I told him I didn't want to see her but he drove me there anyway and we fought. He is stubborn and he cares about me and it is killing me to sit here and not hold his hand."

"I think I'm gonna get back together with Charlie I'm ready to be happy and to have my best friend back. Maybe you should talk to Derek."

"Yea like he wants anything to do with me now."

"You won't know until you work it out. Don't pass up your chance at true happiness."

"Hey tell the guys that I'll see them later. I have to go."

"Where are you going?"

"I gotta go."[I grab all of my stuff and put a twenty in the table just as the guys come back Derek and I lock eyes I can feel the tears welling up he asks:]

"Everything okay? What's wrong?"

"I'm so sorry I have to go."[I walk out get in my car and drive off I go to Maggie's I knock she opens the door and says:]

"Frankie? Is everything okay?"

"I want Derek back."

"Come in."[we go into the kitchen all my friends are talking April looks up and says:]

"Oh honey come here. I know it's hard being around Derek. I avoided work for two weeks when your father and I broke up."

"What if I made a mistake? What if he finds somebody else?"
