I walked over to the team and caught what was the end of a not happy conversation between Dom and Mia. A heated argument from what it looks like.

"I have respected you and I haven't said shit. Now, I am asking you not to go." Mia said.

"I'm doing this for both of us. All three of us actually." he countered, pointing to me.

"You too Charlie? Don't give me that crap Dom, you shouldn't believe it Charlie. You're doing this for you. Why are you insisting on doing this? Dom, please, just don't. You too Charlie, don't do this." she pleaded.

"It's gonna happen Mia and Jesse's missing so they need my help. We'll be back sooner than you think." I told her.

"Vince, babe, please . . ."

"I love you, baby, we'll be back by morning." he replied.

"Let's go." Dom said.

The drive out to Thermal was about two hours long, even with the way we drive. I spent most of it thinking about what I'm getting myself into and what Mia said. I'm ready for this, it's my time to do something.

"Alright, we're one man short but we have Charlie filling in. Letty, I need you on the left side, and Charlie will be riding with you for step 1." Dom said.

"Copy that." I said as the equipment was handed out.

"Your sister's right about this one. It doesn't feel good." Leon said.

"Don't do that." Dom quickly responded.

"Something's wrong." Letty agreed.

"Stop." Dom ordered as Leon handed me a helmet.

"We shouldn't be doing this without Jesse." Letty argued.

"We should be looking for him D. Jesse's in danger and we need to find him, there'll be more trucks after this one." I said.

"Come on, this is the motherload. We've been on this for three months now. After this, it's a long vacation for everyone. Let's go." Dom said, shutting down the arguments.

"I hope so." Vince said.

Everyone went to the cars to give Dom and Letty a moment.

"Is this a good idea?" I asked Vince.

"Not really but he wants to do it." he replied.

"And we've got his back." I said, knowing it to be true.

"Come on, let's make this happen. Leon, keep on those scanners." Dom said.

"Copy that." Leon replied.

"Alright let's go." Dom said, getting into his Civic.

"You're not feeling this, what's going through your head?" I asked Letty when we closed the doors.

"I don't like this Charlie, it doesn't feel right."

"I wouldn't really know, this is my first rodeo."

"Yeah, but you have that Toretto gut, you have to feel it."

"I know, something doesn't feel right about this but it's gonna happen regardless of what we think."

"Ain't that the truth." she said.

We did our best to keep our spirits high as we drove, switching off every few hours. She really isn't feeling this but I'm getting more hyped as the sun came out. It took us a while to catch up to the truck but we finally found it.

"Let's do this." I said, pulling on the helmet.

"Okay, go time." Dom said over the radio.

"Hey." Letty said.

"I know, I got this." I replied.

"Alright, Charlie you're up." Dom said.

"Copy that."

I grabbed the launcher and dropped it into my seat as I got up and opened the sunroof. The sun was beaming on me but I kept my hoodie on when I put the helmet on. I lined up my shot and laughed internally at the angry look on the driver's face. As soon as it impacted the glass the hook opened up, allowing me to pull the glass windshield out and leaving the space open for step 2.

"Good job Charlie." Dom said.

"We're all good, I got nothing on the scanners. Keep going." Leon said as we switched places with Dom and Vince.

Since Letty was on the opposite side of the truck she opened her window a little and the sunroof was still open. We couldn't really see anything that was happening beside us but we heard the gunshot and we knew something was really wrong.

"He's got a damn shotgun! Leon!" we heard Dom say.

"Damn it, get him off of there!" I shouted.

"Back off! Back off! Get him off of there!" Leon replied.

From our position, all we could do was listen to what was happening. I took off my hoodie, the worry and panic was making me a lot hotter than I really was with the AC blasting in the damn car. I looked at Letty and we knew that we had to do something.

"You got my back?" she asked me.

"Always, let's get him off of there." I said.

"Let's do this. Dom, we're pulling up to distract him." Letty shouted over the radio, it's the only way for him to hear us.

Letty pulled up in front of the truck and kept steady.

"Come on boy! A shot doesn't get better than this." she muttered.

Suddenly we heard the shot and the breaking glass, feeling little shards of it hit us.

"Son of a bitch!" I shouted.

She pulled back and kept steady with the side of the truck and I knew what she was thinking. The truck kept swerving so it wasn't easy to keep steady with it, so we fell behind again. From behind the truck, I could see that Dom's tire got shot. He's swerving with the truck but struggling to keep up grinding down on the metal.

"Second shot?" I asked her.

"We're getting him off of that truck." she said.

"Let's get him." I said as she accelerated and pulled up to the side of the truck again.

"Dom, move out of the way. We're coming to get him." she shouted into the radio.

With a deep breath, she pulled a fast one passing underneath the truck. We didn't make much leeway because the truck swerved again right as we pulled up and hit the front tire, making her lose control of the car. We swerved off far right and the car flipped around a few times.

"Leon!" I heard Dom shout over the radio.

"Go!"

"Pull back for the girls! Get them out of there!"

"I'm on it! Go!" Leon replied.

I started to crawl out of the window since the car was upside down. I could hear her moving but I had to go the opposite way. My chest was tight but nothing was broken, at least I don't think it was. Nothing hurt to bad and I could still breathe so I'm moving.

"Letty! Charlie! Come on, baby girls! You okay? Oh, shit, come on girls, you're all right. Let me look at you two, come on, we gotta go." Leon said, giving us both once-overs.

When we got to his car that was sitting on the side of the road a red Supra zoomed right by us and it took me a second but I realized it was Brian's car. I looked over at Leon who was helping Letty into the back seat and he just shrugged his shoulders.

I was panicking as Leon drove off, we had to stop and get Dom so it was Brian and Mia I guess, left to get Vince off of the truck.
