T2 - The Second Toretto

Chapter 22

"What?"

"Ride with me, for my part of the race."

"Why?"

"You bring me good luck, ride with me Charlie." he said, shooting me his crooked, charming smile.

"I'm gonna regret this." I sighed.

"Is that a yes?"

"Yes, I'll ride with you."

With a smile of my own, I hopped into the passenger seat and had to hold in my laughter at his stupid, child-like giddiness. He's smiling like a five-year-old on Christmas and it's infectious, it's also making me regret this already.

"What am I going to do with you O'Conner?"

"Don't leave me, Charlie, stay with me." he said, all joking matters aside.

"I can't promise you that, there's too much going against us Brian."

"Not if . . ."

"You need to focus, they started the race." I said, looking away from him and out of the window.

He sighed but did the same, taking my hand in his. I wanted to pull my hand away, that was my intention but when he laced his fingers through mine and brought out hands to his lips, I couldn't. I can't keep denying it either, I'm in love with Brian. I won't admit that or tell him though, there's no reason for me to do so.

"Come on, Rome." I heard him mutter and it was getting me all tingly.

"You've got this." I said.

The race was close, stupid close because these men don't play by the rules. It was fun and nerve-wracking in the best way. I missed this, this adrenaline rush with him. It's the first time that I race with him and nothing can compare to that feeling. Roman came in second but Brian managed to pull a win.

As soon as the race was over he turned my way and pulled me in for a heated kiss. I mean, I've never been kissed like that before, not even from him. He didn't even realize for the first few seconds but when he focused on the shocked look on my face he knew. This time it was slower, he was more meticulous in his movement and he just devoured me.

"I . . . I have to go." I muttered when he let go of me.

"Charlie . . ."

"I have to go get ready for Pearl. I'll see you there." I said, pulling him in for a kiss this time.

"See you there, dress to impress." he said, a surprised look on his face.

"I'm only showing off for one person and that's me." I replied, getting out of the car.

"Hey girl, where you going? We're gonna celebrate!" Suki shouted.

"I gotta get ready, I got somewhere to be in two hours." I shouted back.

"Alright, you go get it!"

"That I will."

I made the drive back to the compound and hopped quickly into the shower. I've got a pretty decent sized vanity in my room so I sat there to get ready.

"Where were you?" Carter asked, walking into my room while I sat in my lingerie at the vanity.

"Hanging out with bad decisions." I replied, curling my hair.

"With O'Conner?"

"Yup."

"What's going on with him?" he asked curiously.

"I don't know, I still have feelings for him, I love him but I don't know if we'll make it in a relationship. There are a lot of hard feelings, my family wouldn't accept it and I don't want to go against them but I love him. Why?"
