"You gave poor Jesse the face?" Letty asked sadly.
"Hey, he made me a promise. Where's Vince?" I asked.
"He left when he realized that Brian was here again." Mia said sadly.
"I feel for you Mi, I really do. Let's get to work." I told them.
"It's good to have you back here you know." Dom said suddenly.
"This is our inheritance, this is where I always wanted to be. Not no media journalist, this is my happy place."
"Let's get to work."
After a while I realized that Brian and Jesse were still missing so I went to look for them. I found them in the back office with Jesse showing Brian some blueprints.
"ADD?" Brian asked, I guess I caught the end of that conversation.
"Yes, that shit! Yeah, you know I was good in algebra and like math and shit." he said.
"He helped me pass all my math classes and shit, right boy genius?" I said, ruffling his beanie.
"Yeah, yeah, everything else I failed so I dropped out of school. I don't know, there's just something about engines that calms me down, you know." he finished.
"It calms us all down man." I told him, pressing a kiss to his head after I pulled his beanie off.
"Stop that!" he muttered, getting red in the face.
"My decals!"
"I'm working on it damn it. I'll be back." he said, walking away all flustered and embarrassed.
"Why are you so mean to the poor guy?" Brian asked with a stupid smile on his face.
"I'm not mean, I love him." I argued.
"The two of you are close." he stated.
"Yeah, he got bullied in high school. That was before he showed up here, I felt bad for him. He's like a brother to me."
"He loves you too, it's obvious when he looks at you."
"We just clicked, you know? Two kindred spirits that didn't belong to any normal status quo. We helped each other survive."
"Let's get to work." he said, noticing my lack of further response.
By the time we closed the garage poor Jesse printed out the stickers for my car and we did all of the work that we could on a Sunday since we were closing early. Everyone cleaned up as much as we could without hosing down before we got in our cars. Dom sent a look my way and nodded to Brian so I got the hint, I turned towards him while the rest of the team left.
"Hey Brian!"
"What's up?" he asked, walking over to my car.
"Sunday dinner at the house, you in?" I asked with a smile.
"Will you be there?"
"Dork."
"Didn't answer my question."
"Yes, I still have my things there. I don't get the keys to my new place until tomorrow morning."
"Then I'll be there."
"Just follow me you dork."
"Sure."
When we got to the house Mia was already putting the chicken on the grill, Dom put it in the fridge to marinate yesterday. She walked back inside to get more things as we walked to the back. Half of the team was there and helping getting things ready. Brian went over to help Dom man the grill while the other half of the team got more supplies apparently.
