twenty-four

"yeon can I talk to you for a second?" she heard jaehyun from inside the pillow fort. she looked at the younger ones, who gave her permission to leave.

jaehyun stood right outside the fort, and quickly pulled her into his room.

"what's this about?" she frowned, worried.

jaehyun looked at her, deep into her eyes. he was nervous. even after everything, he was going to try.

"yeon, do you want to go out with me? like on a date?" yeon didn't know what to say. the question was so sudden for her. she didnt even know if she trusted him again. she remembered exactly what happened last time he asked this. the memories of her freezing while her tears ran down her face as she walked home still haunted her. and the hours following it, when the truth was told. she was truly scared, she didn't want to go through it again.

as she looked back up at jaehyun, everything she built up over the two years, the hate for him, seemed to vanish. "I'd love to, jaehyun."

jaehyun dropped her off at home so she would be able to get ready.

the first thing she said as she entered the house was "somin, you're going to hate me!". somin immediately came out of the kitchen to question her.

"I'm going out with jaehyun. tonight." she was prepared for whatever she had to say.

somin rolled her eyes. "i expected it ever since you started coming home later. im not mad or anything."

"good, now help me get ready."

"you look good. jaehyun will drop dead." somin said, proud of her outfit.

"that's what you want, isn't it?" yeon laughed.

"maybe. but you like him so i can't say anything bad anymore." she said sadly.

"fuck im so nervous." it was like her nerves had jumped out of nowhere to scare her.

"i can understand, but if he does anything to you I'll beat his ass."

"thanks somin, that's so nice of you."

"you should be used to it by now."

"honestly I've been used to it for a couple years now." as soon as she finished, the sound of someone buzzing up to their apartment sounded through the room

"be safe ok?" somin made yeon promise her.

"i promise."

"hey," she greeted him silently. "you actually showed up this time."

jaehyun smiled, "that's because i dont want to make you sad again."

"wow only two minutes into this date and you're already cheesy."

he pulled her lightly to the car, and opened the door for her. yeon just let him, watching him slowly because it seemed like he was trying hard.

"jaehyun, you don't need to try hard. the fact that you actually want to redo everything makes me happy enough." it was her turn to be bit cheesy.

there first stop was McDonalds, and yeon remembered at time two years ago when she said she would want to go to McDonalds for a date, because fancy food wasn't for her.

they sat in the parking lot, eating their happy meals while jaehyun threw fries at her. yeon tried to make herself look like doja cat, and stuck two fries up her nose.

they blared songs on the radio as jaehyun drove them to the mall.

the walked around not really planning to buy anything. they took pictures in front of gucci as if they had money to buy things there.
