The ocean breeze carried a hint of salt as I emerged from the hidden tunnel onto the secluded beach behind the magnificent Pink Blossom Hall.
The moon cast a soft glow on the sand, illuminating the path ahead. The hall stood proudly on the cliff above us, a beacon of elegance against the night sky.
Waiting for me by a sleek black car were two boys. The first one, Lee Seokmin, greeted me with a smile that could rival the sun itself. His eyes sparkled with warmth and kindness.
The other boy, Boo Seungkwan, had a mischievous glint in his eyes, his chubby cheeks forming a smirk that hinted at a playful nature.
"Kim Danielle," Seokmin greeted, his voice gentle and reassuring. I approached them cautiously, the sand cool beneath my feet.
"Get into the car now. We're sending you back to the dorm," Seungkwan commanded, his tone firm and no-nonsense. He gestured towards the car, indicating for me to enter.
Confusion mingled with frustration as I furrowed my brows. I couldn't fathom the reason behind the secrecy and urgency that enveloped the situation.
"Why? The festival hasn't ended yet," I questioned, taking a step closer to them. I scanned the surroundings, realizing that the tunnel had led me to this picturesque beach, hidden away from prying eyes.
Seungkwan shook his head disapprovingly, annoyance etched on his face. "No questions," he replied curtly, urging me to get into the car.
I frowned at him. Seriously, why is everyone so secretive as fuck?
"Iwon't move if you won't tell me what the fuck is going on," I crossed my arms, my lips forming a defiant line. I refused to comply until I received some answers. The silence between us grew heavy, tension thickening the air.
"You don't have to know about anything. It will only hurt you," Seungkwan finally spoke, his frown deepening. "Trust me, you don't want to know."
I bit my lip, my mind swirling with unanswered questions. There was so much I wanted to understand.
I'm dying to know what's happening around the school, how the fuck am I the daughter of the Director's late husband and whatever happened back there in the VIP room?!
In that moment, a burst of fireworks filled the sky, their vibrant colors exploding in a dazzling display. The sudden spectacle startled all of us, momentarily diverting our attention.
"We really have to go," Seokmin urged, his voice laced with urgency. He grabbed my arm gently, pulling me towards the car.
I couldn't process everything that was happening. It felt like a whirlwind, sweeping me off my feet. I found myself in the backseat, Seokmin in the front, and Seungkwan behind the wheel.
Seokmin's voice cut through the chaos, breaking the silence. "Wear your seat belt," he ordered, his eyes filled with worry. He locked all the doors, securing us inside the vehicle. "And don't look back."
The engine roared to life, and the car sped off, leaving the sandy beach behind. The fireworks continued to light up the night sky, but there was something about the way the fireworks sound making the chills run down my spine every time it went off.
It doesn't sound like your usual fireworks.
It hit me only then, a little bit too late, when I realized what it really was.
The image of Seungcheol with the gun in his hand, the way his eyes were wary of his surroundings and what was that loud sound I heard earlier?—all the pieces fell into place.
