Just when Camila was about to fully lean in, large hands grabbed her shoulders forcing her to turn around and away from me. I watched as rough lips were clumsily pressed against hers, straight in front of my eyes. With much effort I held back a sigh of annoyance as I cautiously observed that douche licking and sucking half of Camila's face as if he were trying to absorb her. A strange sensation ached in my heart during those painful seconds I had to endure being unable to do anything but watch. My checks turned fiery red within seconds, yet I forced myself to breathe calmly to not appear too suspicious. Camila quickly pulled away looking nervously at me before she turned around to face our unwelcomed guest."Hey Liam, what are you doing here?"
Camila's POV
The surprising appearance of Liam left me paralyzed and speechless for a moment, not only because he'd almost caught me kissing Lauren, but mostly because I was worried about her. As strangely as this might sound, I felt highly uncomfortable kissing Liam with her being right next to me - it felt somewhat wrong. I would have pushed him away the instant his lips collided with mine, but I figured that such an abrupt reaction would have been quite suspicious, for there was no reason not to kiss him - at least none that came to my mind.
"Hey babe. I slept at a friend's house after partying last night. I was actually on my way back home now. What are you doing here?" He asked lovingly as always, but still the amount of affection that his facial expression and his words radiated was a little unfamiliar, almost ... forced? I turned once more to look at Lauren who was observing our interaction closely with furrowed eyebrows.
"I uhm ... I, ... well," I stuttered while my mind searched desperately for a reasonable answer as to what I was actually doing there. Obviously, the truth was a highly inappropriate reply, but, being the bad liar that I was, no genius or spontaneous white lie came to my mind. Mere seconds went by, none of the three of us said something, the silence waiting for me to break it. Eventually, I remembered the previous pizza and I figured to tell him that part of my day wasn't that bad of an idea, after all.
'God praise Hawaiian pizza, the solution to almost all of life's obstacles.'
"I was starving, but the forgetful jerk I'm sadly living with missed to buy some food. Our refrigerator was practically empty. So I went out to have some pizza and there's this great pizzeria right around the corner," I said rapidly, pointing with my finger in no certain direction attempting to remember where we'd gotten the pizza. Meanwhile, Liam had taken a seat right next to me putting his left arm around my shoulders.
"If you want me to, I can have a serious talk with your roommate ...Logan?! I'd be more than delighted to help you out if you need me to teach him a lesson so you won't have to starve in your own flat anymore," he suggested playfully with a wide smile on his face and I let out a forced chuckle feeling still slightly uneasy between Liam and Lauren, but trying to cover the tension within me as best as I could.
"How was dinner with your parents yesterday? I texted you after I left your flat, hoping I'd see you afterwards, but you were nowhere to be found. Where have you been?" He questioned piercing me with his brown eyes expectantly. My mind, once again, went completely blank. Not only had I to figure out how to convincingly continue the white lie I'd told him yesterday to get rid of him, I also would have to explain to Lauren later why I'd lied to her about not having seen Liam the day before, when I indeed had. I struggled finding any type of words to, at least, pretend like I was behaving normal. My mouth was open, yet no word escaped my lips. I glanced subtly at Lauren, her expression revealing no emotions. I felt my cheeks slowly but surely flush, changing color into what felt like a glowing red.
"I uhm...dinner? That was great, but ... uh ... my parents ... they wouldn't let me go, so ...," I tried to sound as casual as possible, but for some reason I found it very difficult to stay focused because, firstly, I was lying which was definitely not one of my strengths and secondly, because I was involuntarily caught between my recent and secret lovers.
