Ashton walks aimlessly around the shop. He doesn't know why he came here and doesn't know what to buy so is drifting between the aisles.
He sees the time on his phone to read around midday and sighs. His life is more boring than he'd like to admit.
Just as he considers leaving, he sees a woman stood with a baby on her hip as she stressfully massages her head. The baby screams at her as she leans against the trolley.
Ashton bites his lip and walks over to her, a reassuring look upon his face.
The woman tries to hush the baby but it just screams louder. She starts to push the trolley with her spare hand as she clutches the baby tightly to her side.
"Hey, do you need any help?" Ashton asks.
The woman looks up, her {eye colour} eyes look tired and her {hair colour} hair is messy.
"I'm okay." She whispers.
Ashton barely hears her over the sound of her kid crying.
"Please, I have nothing better to do," He insists, "My name is Ashton."
She nods, "I'm y/n."
Ashton smiles slightly before offering to push your trolley for you.
"Don't you have somewhere to be?" You ask as you rock your small child.
"Honestly, no. Like I say, I've got nothing better to be doing." He says.
The baby's wails start to die down and you see her falling asleep in your embrace.
"Thank God," you mutter.
The two of you walk down some aisles, Ashton has your list in his hands.
"What's her name?" He asks as he gets some fruit from the shelves.
"Alexandra. She was five months old the other day." You say.
"Where's her dad?" He asks.
"We're not together. He comes to see her and when she's older he'll have her at the weekends." You explain with a yawn.
"Exhausted?"
"Very." You reply.
With Alex asleep, you and Ashton continue your shop and you thank him gratefully when you've paid.
"It's no trouble." He says.
You walk into the carpark together but Ashton frowns as you gather all four of your bags in your arms as well as the baby.
"Where's your car?" He asks.
"I don't drive. I got the bus." You reply.
"So you're gonna go home on the bus with four bags of shopping and a baby in your arms?" Ashton asks.
"It's a struggle but yeah, sure." You reply.
"No, come on," Ashton sighs, "I'll take you home if you like."
"No Ashton, that'd be too much. I don't wanna be a burden." You say as the baby wiggles in your arms.
"If not for you, for the baby, it's dangerous." Ashton says.
"I'm fine, honestly Ashton." You say but the stubborn man takes your shopping and throws the bags into his car.
"Get in." He orders.
"Ashton, no-"
"Hey, I'm not a murderer but I'll be a thief if you don't get in because I have all your shopping now stop arguing and let me take you home." He says.
You sigh but join him in his car with a nervous frown on your face. Your brain is screaming stranger danger and you look at your daughter for protection.
"Will you be ok holding her?" Ashton asks.
"I mean, it's pretty illegal but sure." You say as you run your fingers through the {your hair colour} wisps on the top of her head.
"You're gonna have to give me your address." Ashton says.
You sigh again before telling him your location.
The ride is filled with you and Ashton learning about each other. He tells you about his band and his hobbies whilst you tell him all about Alexandra.
Truthfully, he holds a good conversation.
When you get to your place, you thank Ashton multiple times for all of his help (and secretly for not killing you) and you leave him with your number.
A couple of hours later, once Alex is in bed, you open your phone to see a message from Ashton.
Ashton: hey, hope Alex has been better for you tonight.
Y/N: thanks, she was fine around you but was evil again once you left. I think she likes you.
Ashton: well I like her too 😀
Your conversation goes on for a while without you even noticing and you are only aware of the time when you hear Alex crying for a feed.
3 AM.
"Oh shit." You groan.
5 years later
You smile at Ashton in the aisles at the shop. The baby is on his hip instead of yours but it's not Alex, she's older now. She is with her real dad as it's the weekend.
Ashton is holding your one year old son in his arms as he helps him pick some food out.
"You want {your favourite sweets}? Your mum will be impressed." Ashton laughs as he grabs them off the shelf and drops them into the trolley.
"We've taught you well haven't we?" You laugh, letting Jesse (your son) squeeze your fingers.
"Daddy." He says, pulling his arms back to hold Ashton.
Ashton smiles and childishly sticks his tongue out at you.
"I didn't need another kid, I have you around to constantly tease me and ask me for things." You sigh.
"Hey, if I want party rings, I get party rings! It's the rules." Ashton replies.
"You're a bad influence." You sigh as you look at the packs of party rings now in your trolley.
"I'm just persistent," he laughs, "You love me though so it's fine."
You frown at him as Jesse holds his arms out for you. You take him in your arms and this time, stick your tongue out at Ash.
