"Cal, there's a fucking cat in the kitchen." You shout.

"What?" He replies.

"There is," You sigh, "A fucking cat in the kitchen."

"No there's not, I don't know what you're on about." Calum shouts from the living room.

"Calum!" You snap.

You hear him mumble under his breath before sighing and joining you in the kitchen where you're stood near the grey animal that's sat on your dining table.

"Oh yeah," He says, "There is a cat."

"And why's it here?" You ask.

"I don't know," He shrugs, "It's a cat, probably just wandered in."

"Funny that," You comment, "I didn't know cats could unlock doors."

With Calum looking sheepish and you glaring at him, you don't notice Duke walk into the room until you turn and see the small pup trying to jump onto the chairs.

"Oh shit," You mumble, "Duke, here boy."

Calum grabs the dog from the floor and cradles him in his arms as you continue to glare at him. The cat jumps from the table and rubs its nose against Calum's legs.

"That means nothing!" He says.

"You've been feeding a stray haven't you?" You ask.

"No." He says, burying his face into Duke's fur.

"Calum," You sigh.

"Fine but only because it's cute." He says.

"You know how cats get," you groan as the cat starts to rub your leg too but you nudge it away with your feet.

You look down at the small creature and sigh, "It's only a kitten."

"She was playing with Duke the other day. They like each other." Calum explains.

"We can't keep the cat though." You say.

"Why not? The dog likes her, I like her! It's just you." Calum says.

You look at him as he puts Duke onto the floor and picks up the skinny kitten.

"The meanie lady doesn't like you." He whispers to the cat.

"Don't tell it that!" You complain.

Calum giggles, "You like her don't you? She's an arsehole, isn't she?"

"Cal!" You groans again as you look guiltily at the cat that yawns in Calum's arms.

"It's okay," He whispers into the cats ears as he looks at you smugly, "We'll run away from the meanie woman."

You know he's just trying to wind you up but it unfortunately works as you frown angrily and cross your arms.

"Babe, I'm only joking." He laughs.

"Yeah? Well I'm not! Get rid of the fucking cat."

~~~
It's been a week since you first saw the cat and since then, you haven't seen it around so you guessed Calum had taken it pretty far away.
Or at least you did until you came home early today and saw Calum sitting on the couch with the cat in his arms.
Duke lies on his lap and the grey kitten lays in Calum's grasp as he mumbles to both the animals.
"Maybe we should make you a home outside," Calum suggests to the kitten that looks up at him with its dark eyes, "We can both stay out there together once y/n finds out you're still here. She's likely to kick me out."
