Chapter Three : The Naive Village

Garroth's POV

Who was she? And how was she so good at combat? The fact that she was twiddling her dagger in her fingers frightened me. I was not expecting her to be, well, her. She's quite beautiful actually. Gah. I shouldn't think that. After we bring her to Aph, then hopefully I won't see her anytime soon. She was dangerous. She even warned us. I just couldn't let what she did to Laurence slip. I was angry before, but now, I guess I'm curious. I got the hint that she's an assassin. But I don't know of any assassins who willingly go with their capturers. Interesting.

"Hey. Why are you coming with us? You had every opportunity to run." I ask. She stops fiddling with her dagger and looks at me with we walk. Her E/C eyes stare at me. She looks away.
"Well, I'm off duty right now, so I guess this is a good distraction." She says, smiling at the ground. I nod. Laurence speaks up next.
"What's your name anyways?" Her smile disappears. She pauses, thinking.

"It's Y/N." She replies. That's a pretty name. I see Laurence grin.
"Mines Laurence." He says smugly.
"I'm Dante." Dante's chirps.
"I'm Travis. But you can call me your boyfr-" He was cut off by Y/N throwing the dagger up and catching it loosely by the blade, then pointing it at him. She was glaring while smiling. She grabs the handle and continues to play with it.
"Aaron." Aaron mumbles. She nods, then turns to me.
"And you?" She asks, glancing at me for a few seconds.
"I-Its Garroth." I mentally slap myself for stuttering. I look at her to see her grin a little.
"Well, its pleasant to meet you all." She says cheerfully. I blink. This girl can change her moods quickly.

After a few minutes of walking, we reach Phoenix Drop. The tall stone walls tower over us as we approach. I wave to the guard, signaling for the gate to open. A few seconds later, the gate opens, making a rusty sound. I see Y/N put her hood on as we walk in. I wonder why. We all walk to Aphmau's house, in almost silence. If not for the village ambiance, it would have been really awkward.

I step up to the door and knock a few times, it doesn't take long for it to swing open.
"Hey guys! What's up?" Asks an excited Aphmau. Her raven hair was smooth and her amber eyes were full of life, she wore a purple and white dress. I blink and clear my throat.
"We found someone outside of the walls." I say formally. She raises an eyebrow.
"And who might that be?" I stand to the side to reveal Y/N, this time not fiddling with a dagger. She outstretches a hand and Aphmau takes it, shaking it happily.
"Y/N. Nice to meet you." She says curtly. Aph nods.
"I'm Aphmau, Lord of Phoenix Drop." She states cheerfully. "Could you please remove your hood? I'd like to see who you are." Y/N nods and lifts a hand, hovering over her hood. It seems she hesitated before pulling her hood back, revealing her H/L H/C falling down. She had a straight face, but her E/C eyes still looked bright. I shake my head slightly, I don't like her. I can't.

Your POV

I remove my hood and watch her jaw drop.
"Wow! Your really pretty!" She says admirably. I scratch the back of my neck.
"I wouldn't call myself that, but thank you." I say, mustering a cheerful smile. She turns to the guards.
"Could someone escort her to a house? She'll be settled in immediately." I shake my head.
"I'm afraid I can't stay." I say sadly. She looks at me, confused.
"Why not? You'll love it here! I swear!" She exclaims, trying to convince me to stay. I chuckle.
"I have a job elsewhere, I just wanted to explore when your guards caught me. I'm sorry." She looks really upset.
"Oh. Okay. Well, come back any time you want." She smiles. I nod my head.
"I'll take you up on that." I walk down the path and wave back to them. "It was fun meeting you all. Farewell!" I say, making my way to the gate.

Aphmau's POV

We all watch her leave. I sigh, frustrated.
"Could one of you follow her, make sure she doesn't get hurt?" I ask them. Garroth nods immediately.
"I don't mind." He says, smiling. They pivot and walk away. I wave as I watch them all head back down the path and walk towards the gate. I quite like her actually, and I want to get to know her better. She's quite mysterious... I shrug and walk back into my house, closing the door behind me. I hope she'll be fine.
