Chapter Twenty-One : To A New Future

Garroth's POV

I fumble with my hands as I prepare to knock on her door. It shouldn't be this difficult to do right? It was just knocking after all. Though my heart swelled just at the mere thought of Y/N's welcoming smile. I thought about what happened last night, it was the only thing I've thought about. I couldn't sleep because of it and I wanted to talk. I peer at the sky, the sun coming into view over the walls. I shake my head and sigh. I doubt she'll be up at this hour.

I finally gather the courage and knock a few times, each one getting louder. I wait a few seconds before knocking again. Was she not home? Or was she... My eyes widen at my thoughts. She could be have gone away again, she just couldn't! But... it's happened before. I growl under my breathe. No. She stopped that. For me. I knock again, now pounding on the wooden door. I stay still as I conjure up scenarios in my mind.

I dash around to the back, my armor clinking as I run. I jump over her flowers as I speed walk to the front of the back door. I turn the knob and open it, knowing that she kept this one unlocked. I step inside, looking for any trace of her. Nothing here. I walk up the stairs to be met with doors. I check them all. Still nothing. My breathing becomes irregular as I slump on the stair railing. What happened? Where is she? She's not normally up at this hour. What if she was taken?

"Garroth..?" I whip my head around to see her standing at the bottom on the stairs, holding a bag with a confused look. "What are you doing in here?" She asks, putting down the bag at the end of the stairs. I sigh with relief as I dash down the stairs to engulf her in a hug. I bury my head in the crook of her neck as I trail my fingers in her hair.
"Oh thank Irene your okay. I thought something happened..." I mutter. She giggles and drops her head on mine.
"I'm alright, I just went out to get food." She replies. I pull away and stare into her bright E/C eyes.
"I know, I-I was just afraid something... bad occurred." She smiles and kisses me on the cheek.
"Don't worry Garroth. I am trained you know." I smile through my blushing.

She picks up the bag and walks over to the kitchen island, placing it onto it. She glances at me.
"Would you like some food? I could cook something for you." I shake my head.
"No no, I'm all fine. I a-actually came here to ask you something.." I admit, walking over to her. She raises an eyebrow as I stand closer.
"And might that be?" I bite my lip as I run over the sentence in my head, calming my unstable nerves. I reach for her hand and hold it softly.

"I-I was wondering... if y-you would be my g-girlfriend." I ask, cursing myself for stuttering. She stays frozen for a little. I involuntarily gulp as she mulls over her response. She smiles and hugs me.
"Your too cute for your own good, you know that right?" She giggles, "of course I will Garroth." I can't stop myself from smiling as I hug her back tightly.
"Thank you." I mumble.

We strolled through town holding hands. I couldn't help but smile as she bounced up and down besides me. We were on our way to the stables to grab our horses. I had my duty to fulfill and Y/N wanted to accompany me. As I push the stable doors open I can't help but frown at the scene.
"Hey Garroth! Hey Y/N!" Dante greets as he strokes Captain's short and stubby mane. Travis also looks up while absently petting Prince Charming.
"Hey guys." I greet as I walk over to Cloud. I glance over to see Y/N walk up to Domino, smiling and feeding him a carrot.
"And hello to you two." She replies, nodding to them both.

We both walk our horses out of their stables and put a saddle on them, with myself helping Y/N.
"Oh yeah, we're dating now." I say, bringing the teasing upon myself. I look to them to see their grinning faces. Travis walks over to me and slaps me on my back.
"It's about time! Congrats you two." He smiles, giving me an approving nod. I stand there, glad but shocked. Dante also nods approvingly.
"So now you guys are going out yeah?" He asks. I nod and hop onto Cloud. I watch Y/N as she mounts Domino, the giant black beast seeming to finally have fully warmed up to her. She pets him appreciatively.
"Yep." I reply, gripping Cloud reins.
"See you two later!" Y/N waves as she rides out. I give the guys a wave before heading out after them.

We get out the gate and ride side by side. We smile at each other as we trot.
"You want to race?" Y/N asks. I grin widely.
"Only if your prepared to lose." I retort confidently. She chuckles.
"We'll see about that. Yah!" She whips her reins and Domino speeds off. I do the same and chase after her. After the girl I love.
