Garroth's POV

Where is she?! I've looked all over town and asked the guys but they don't know where she is. I glance to my left to see her house. It was F/C with an inviting little stone path. I walk up it and hesitate as I stand at the door. What if she's been home the whole time and I've been worrying for nothing? And what if she's gone? I knock a few times. Nothing. I knock again after waiting and there's still no sound of movement.

I kick down the door and walk in, wiping the wood chips from my armor.
"I'll... have to fix that before she kills me..." I mutter. I walk in the kitchen. No sigh of her. All except a note of the counter. The handwriting was neat and pretty. It read:

To whoever it may concern,

I've gone out to Scaleswind to sort out some business. Do not worry, I'll be back before tomorrow hopefully. I've rode out on Domino well equipped with supplies and weapons, so I'll take care of myself. Do not send anyone after me, since you all care so deeply for one another. It would be best if I did this by myself. My gratitude if you understand.

Y/N L/N

My head is filled with so many questions as I re-read it a third time. Why didn't she tell me about this? What is her 'business'? I fold it and put it in my pocket. What isn't she telling me?

I walk out and head straight to the guards tower, searching for any of the guys. I see Laurence walk out as I approach. I hurriedly jog up to him.
"Oh, hey Garroth. What's up?" He asks casually. I run a hand through my hair.
"I'm leaving for a little bit. Could you take over for me until I come back?" I ask quickly. He raises an eyebrow.
"What's the matter? You look stressed." I shake my head and put a hand on his shoulder.
"I'm fine, I'm just worried that Y/N has found trouble." I admit. He nods understandingly.
"Of course man, go get your girl." He smirks, wiggling his eyebrows. I laugh half heartedly and nod.
"Thank you. I'll be back soon." I say, waving behind me.
"You better!" He shouts after me. I smile and make my way to the stables. I need to get Cloud first.

Your POV

I dismount Domino and tie him to a stable fence. I pet his nose as I feed him a carrot. I look around the space to see more horses. More stolen horses... The stable I was in belonged to a friend of mine. Nameless and unknown, I only knew his cloak and low voice. I swear no ones seen him without it. I've been assigned a task to eliminate a target.

I felt terrible. Lack of sleep compelled me to keep going, the payment fulling my movements. But, I couldn't help feel horrid. My heart had splintered and cracked. I had lied. I made a promise to stop this business. It's not like I can walk out. It's not that easily. I'll just do it in secret, I'm hopeful that going away for a few days every month won't cause too much suspicion. But Garroth... What would he think of me? Broken promises. I hate making promises, they can only end as broken and torn. He knew I did this, surely he must know the difficulties of getting out. He is a prince after all. You can get lost within the shade in the world.

I know his profile, a hopeful one for sure. Runaway prince, wanting nothing to do with his family's darkness and finds resolve in helping people. I wish I had his peace. Anything to make the rain clouds disperse above me. The rain was hard, the truth even harder. I shake the thought from my head as I walk in silence to the house. My cloak keeping my features hidden, but my eyes scanned every detail around me.

I turn the corner and see the house my business was confirmed to be held in. I was extremely cautious. I had never been here before nor did I know the guy. All I know was that he worked clean and payed a good deal. Hopefully, no red flags appear. I push the wooden door open, only to be met with a fowl smell. It smelled like blood and rotten food. I cringe under my hood as I hold my sleeve to my nose, breathing in and out of the material, using it as a filter of sorts.

The smell was as inviting as the group of burly men seated at a round table, whose cold gazes now pierced through me. I felt almost uneasy. The smell and the situation was making it hard to focus. I block it out as I close the door behind me. I take a step forward and take a deep intake, dropping my sleeve.
"Who." I say, my hood and changed voice depth masking my real voice. They snicker as one of the bigger ones steps up. He seemed a couple of feet above me and was built like a wall. A crooked smile etched across his face.

He strides past the table and in a flash he appears in front of me. He offers his hand as he studies me. I take it and suppress a groan as he firmly shakes mine.
"Hector. It's about time you showed up L/N." I nod, recognizing his tone and name. I glance to my left to see a guy walk behind me, also flaunting a crooked smile. I shift my eyes to see another from the right. I sigh and glare at Hector.
"Aren't you just basic?" I snare. His eyes turn fierce for a split second. I smile. "Surround and capture me, like a pack of wild dogs." I remark, earning myself a grin.
"What makes you think that little man?" Hector laughs. I shake my head and force a chuckle. This was a trap all along. Great...

"Well," I glance to the two men a few feet away from me on either side of me, "your men don't seem to have taken a liking to me." I grimace, knowing fully well what was about to happen. My other arm was still under my cloak. I slowly grip a dagger, ready to attack. There was one thing I was sure about.

I wouldn't win.
