"So that fire, that was you? You're the reason I'm in this hellhole of a forest, you killed me?" she shouted. She didn't need an answer, I realized, she was feeling all my thoughts of guilt and remorse, and all my memories of flames and ashes. "HOW COULD YOU?!"

Aki looked up at me. "Those people, they mentioned the Dark Mirror...that was what they were asking me about."

I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, I know you're angry--

"FUCK YEAH, I'M ANGRY! I'M FURIOUS, OUTRAGED, SICK WITH ANGER, YOU SON OF A BITCH!" I wasn't even actually hearing it but I still felt like the shouting was gonna deafen me. "THIS IS WAY FUCKING WORSE THAN WHAT I DID! YOU KILLED APRIL!"

"You really are with them...aren't you?" She backed away from me, hand going to her side like I was gonna hurt her.

Who's April...?

"YOU BASTARD! I'LL FUCKING KILL YOU! LIKE YOU FUCKING KILLED HER! AND ME! AND DOZENS OF OTHER PEOPLE, YOU MONSTER!"

"No, I swear, Aki, I can explain."

I thought I had to, I...didn't even think about not doing it, I...

"I can't believe you..." I flinched at the betrayed tone in their voice.

Aki looked at me, expecting me to explain.

I took a deep breath. "A bunch of people created me to destroy four heroes and sacrifice Princess Zelda so they could rule Hyrule. The Dark Mirror was the source of all their powers and my source of life, so I couldn't ever betray them. After a while, I came to realize that what I was doing wasn't right and I shattered the mirror, killing me, stopping one of those people, and somewhat weakening another person. Those people who hurt you? They must serve Ganon. He's the one who really created me."

"Created?"

"Yeah," I said. "I'm not human. And...maybe, in the end, that's why I hated Hyrule so much. Because I knew I couldn't ever be a part of it. I'm not human, or Hylian, or whatever, I'm just a really stupid shadow that hurt a lot of people." I swallowed. "But I'm not gonna hurt you. Vio's trying to collect the pieces of the broken mirror so he can revive me, so I can escape this forest."

Aki looked at me hopefully. "Can you take me with you? When you get out of this forest, I mean? I don't want to stay here..."

I nodded. "I doubt Vio'd let me leave a kid here anyways," I said, giving a small smile although every inch of me was screaming in agony.

While Aki seemed okay with me, the voice didn't. She had gone silent.

Great, I murdered a girl I don't even know the name of...And tons of other people, too. Shit, I don't know any of their names...

Except April's.

Shit, what was the voices name? Aki grabbed my hand and tugged, trying to grab my attention.

"I think I heard something."
