A Fox's Journey Super Edition: Polar Blaze and Thunder Storm's Turmoil

Chapter Five: Fate

Polar looked around the Healers' den as she started her punishment-- or was it just a job? Polar knew most of the herbs that were used, but not all of them and even still she felt a little self-conscious about the punishment that the two healer's had gotten her into.

"Hey, Rip Tide I am going to go out to collect herbs for you. I will be back in a bit," Polar said calmly to Rip Tide before taking off to go and collect herbs.

"Okay, just come right back!" Rip Tide shouted after Polar who was already out of the camp. Polar left the camp knowing that she had to find those herb and do it right the first time otherwise she would be stuck in the Healers' den for the rest of her life. Polar soon found herself trapped in bramble bushes thorns were puncturing her sides.

"StarRange cursed bramble thorns! Help me some fox please help me!" Polar said crying softly into the night air. Polar had been stuck in the bramble bushes all day thinking she could get out of them on her own, but worse yet she wasn't one Range territory anymore, which meant no foxes could hear her cries or would come for help. Thunder who was still hiding in the bushes heard the whimpers of a fox pup in trouble and to him it sounded like Polar. Quickly, Thunder climbed out of his hiding spot to see Polar stuck in bramble bushes with thorns poking at every part of her body. As Thunder looked at Polar he realised that she was bleeding pretty badly and that she had lost so much blood that she had went unconscious.

"Polar? Oh my StarRange! She is unconscious I need to go and get Earth Claw!" Thunder shouted as he talked to himself. The more Polar was left there the more life was drained out of her. Thunder took off running in the direction of his camp.

"Earth Claw! Earth Claw! Please I need help!" Thunder shouted as he rushed into his camp. Earth Claw came out of her den and saw the look of truth in Thunders' eyes. Thunder then took Earth Claw his healer to where Polar lay limp in the bramble bushes still unconscious.

"Thunder, who is this fox do you know her?" Earth Claw asked Thunder as she started to pull Polar out of the bushes.

"Yes, I know her she is a lone fox named Polar. She lives around here," Thunder told Earth Claw unwilling to tell her the truth on how he had actually met Polar.

"Okay. I think we had better take her to the camp so I can heal her there. Thunder, I cannot promise that I will be able to heal her fully, but I will try my best," Earth Claw said to Thunder as they carried Polar and walked back to their camp. As they got back Moon Light the camps' leader came up to greet them with a warm welcome.

"Thunder, Earth Claw. Welcome back to the camp. I see you have brought back an injured fox pup. Thunder who is this?" Moon Light asked Thunder who silently prayed to StarRange that his Range leader would believe his words.

"Moon Light, he cannot answer that right now. I need to get this pup into my den so she can be healed. As for Thunder he can either go back to the nursery or stay in the healers' den with his friend and me," Earth Claw told Moon Light who agreed, but as she looked at the helpless little pup she was brought back to the times of her puphood. Earth Claw then dismiss herself and Thunder to go to her den. Earth Claw laid Polar down in one of the nests and as she did so Polar let out a little feeble grunt of pain.

"Thunder, do not be worried at first she will be in pain, but it is all part of the Healing process," Earth Claw told Thunder seemingly aware that the little pup had feelings for the hurt pup.

"Thunder, go to the nursery and get some sleep. You can come back in the morning to check on your friend," Earth Claw said to Thunder as she started covering Polars' wounds with marigold and cobweb. Thunder nodded and before leaving the den he gave Polars' ears a lick and left the den. Earth Claw gave Polar some thyme and watched as Thunder left. After the little pup had left she climbed back into her nest and went back to sleep. In the morning Polar woke up with a sudden jerk and realised that she was no longer stuck in the bramble bushes.

"Ahhh!!!" Polar squeaked out in terror as she figured out that she wasn't back in her own den. Earth Claw had been awoken because of Polars' screeching and walked over to Polar who was trying to sit up in her nest.

"You are up. That is surprising considering all that you have been through. Welcome to WaterfallRange. If you are wonder how you got here, your friend Thunder came and got me. You should thank him he saved your life," Earth Claw told Polar who was shaking violently with fear when suddenly Thunder came into the den to see Polar.

"You... you saved my life?" Polar asked Thunder her mind was still unable to process straight. Thunder merely shrugged and then settled in beside her to keep her company.

"Thunder, go and get her a piece of prey from the prey pile please. Make sure it is one that is big enough for the both of you to share," Earth Claw told Thunder who gave Polar a stroke across her back before going to get the prey. As Thunder came back into the den he saw that Polar had fallen unconscious once again.

"Will she ever be able to leave?" Thunder asked Earth Claw as he set the prey down and settled back in beside Polar once again.

"Thunder! Thunder! My baby! My baby! Had any fox seen Thunder?" Coral Reef shouted urgently and as Thunder heard this he strolled out of the Healers' den.

"Mom, I am fine. Please, I was just in the Healing den. Don't seem so worried about me because I know that you are not," Thunder said to his mother and then walked back into the Healers' den.

"Thunder, I am going out to find herbs now. Please watch over Polar for me," Earth Claw told Thunder as she left the Healing den. Shortly after Earth Claw had left Polar had woken up again, but it had only been because she had a fever.
