Carson's pov
------------------------

I can't believe she just left. How much did I not know about her? Was she even who I thought she was if she was keeping all of these secrets from me? Who was she running from and why? I had so many questions and I needed answers to them. I hired a private investigator to try and track her down and now I can only hope that he can find her.

There are so many things we still need to do. So many things we still need to say. What if I never get the chance to tell her I love her? I won't be able to propose and we'll never be able to get married or have kids. Little us running around..

Knock knock

I was snapped out of my thoughts by the knock at the door and grumbled out a come in. It was my private investigator.

"Do you have anything on her yet?" I asked quickly and stood up. There had to be something.

He sighed heavily and shook his head "She left no traces behind. She's good at disappearing. All I know is that she went south. I'm sorry."

I clenched my fists before slamming my fists down on my desk "Damnit!" I seethed and paced my office "I swear to god you better find her or your career will be ruined." I growled at my private investigator and watched him nod frightenedly before scurrying out of the room.

The one girl I've ever had feeling for was gone. The only person I've ever warmed up to was gone. I couldn't protect her. I failed at protecting her. But how could she not tell me someone was after her? Didn't she know I would've helped her in a heartbeat? And now she's gone and who knows what could be happening to her right now. My babygirl was gone and I couldn't find her.

I tried calling her phone again but it went straight to voicemail. So then I did the next best thing. I looked up her brother and called him instead. He had to know where she was.

Jaxon, her brother answered the phone within a few rings "Hello?"

"Jaxon, its Carson. I know someone is after Brooklyn so don't start playing dumb. Where the hell did she run off to?" I growled into the phone.

I heard a sigh over the other end before he talked again. "I can't tell you where she is. The fewer people who know where she is, the better." He said firmly.

I groaned and pulled at the roots of my hair. Is everyone in that stupid family annoying?

"Listen, I need to know where she is. I love her man. I've never felt like this before with anyone. You need to tell me where she is so I can help her." I practically was begging him at this point to tell me where she was. And Carson Maxwell is not one to beg people. But for Brooklyn, I would get on my hands and knees if I had to.

"Alright. But you can't tell anyone where you're going. Make sure no one is following you. She's been trying to run for a while now and if he finds her because of you you're dead." He growled to me as I sighed a breath of relief. I was gonna get my girl back.

"She's in Colorado. I'll text you the address in case anyone's listening in." Jaxon said before hanging up.

She got all the way to Colorado? No wonder I wasn't able to find her. She was across the fucking country. But I was going to find her.

I looked down at my phone as Jaxon sent me Brooklyn's location, a smile coming across my face. I quickly called my pilot and told him to get the jet ready to go to Colorado. Screw work, I was going to find my girl and tell her I loved her and never let her go again.

The plane ride seemed like it took forever. I was tapping my finger against the seat the whole time, anxious to be find her already.

Once we landed I quickly walked out and into the car waiting for me before speeding off. She really moved to the middle of no where. There were mountains everywhere and it was a small town you would have never known about unless you lived there. I parked in front of an apartment complex and got out, scanning over the building. It was a bit run down but everyone looked nice.

I walked up to the second floor and went to the room that matched the address on my phone. I took a deep breath as I stood in front of her door before softly knocking. When no one answered the door I put my ear to the door and heard a small commotion going on. I tested the doorknob and it was unlocked so I slowly opened the door. The sight in front of me made a gasp leave my mouth.

Brooklyn's pov
------------------------------

Colorado was a big move and hopefully it was worth it. I now lived in a tiny town that I somehow stumbled upon when I was aimlessly driving around in my car. Yeah, I drove all the way to Colorado instead of flying.

There was no way anyone could find me. Even Carson. I missed him so much. I was never even able to tell him personally that I loved him. Maybe I just deserve to be alone.

I sighed and walked home from the small bar across the street that I now worked at. The owner was nice and gave me a job on the spot. I walked into my apartment and shut the door behind me. I kicked off my shoes and headed to my bedroom. As I opened the door the man that feared me the most stood in front of me. He found me. He was here. He was going to kill me. I could tell because he had a murderous look in his eyes and he was also holding a knife.

"Oh my dear, Brooklyn. Did you really think you could move all the way to Colorado without me knowing? I'll always find you no matter where you go. There's no escaping me." Brandon said as he started to step closer to me.

I stepped back before taking off towards the door. But I guess I was too slow because he grabbed me by the arm and pinned me against the wall, his hand coming around my throat.

"You know I hate when you play hard to get. Just stand still to make me not have to punish you even more." He whispered in my ear and I had to keep myself from gagging because of how bad his breath smelled.

Everything after that was just a blur. I felt a pain right above my stomach and when I looked down I knew why. He had stabbed me. He pulled the knife out just as my apartment door opened. I could already feel myself bleeding out because I swore Carson walked through the door. He couldn't be here. There was no way he could have found me. Brandon was tackled to the floor by Carson as I slid to the floor. At least I was finally able to breathe since his hand was no longer around my neck. I tried to keep my eyes open but I could feel myself losing consciousness. My eyes went blurry and dark spots started to cloud my vision. I felt myself being picked up as I heard police sirens in the distance. He was saying something but I couldn't hear what he was saying. I weakly put my hand on his cheek and used everything left in me to whisper three words.

"I...love...you.." I whispered to him before I let my eyes close and completely lose consciousness.
