The thought of Brandon finding me and stuck in my head so I did the only thing I could think of. Work. Even on the weekends I still worked. I needed something to do to try and keep my mind off of him.
When it was Monday I wore my usual white blouse with a black pencil skirt and heels. As I walked to my desk I was greeted by Carson's narrowed eyes. I just got into work and it already looks like I'm in trouble.
"Why were you doing so much work on the weekend?" He asked me as he sipped the coffee in his hands that I was supposed to have gotten. He must've came in early then.
"Why are you here early?" I asked, ignoring his own question.
"I had to come in and prepare for a meeting which you need to get ready for as well because it's in five minutes." And with that, he walked away.
I let out a sigh before setting my stuff down on my desk and then grabbed my notebook so I could take notes.
Something seemed off with Carson today. He always gave me a smile and usually waited for me if we had a meeting. But today he looked almost cold.
I walked into the meeting room and sat down next to Carson as a few men in suits walked in a few minutes later.
The meeting was boring as usual and I couldn't keep my mind off of Carson. Something was up and I wanted, no. Needed to know. It made my heart ache a little seeing him like this because I knew this wasn't him.
Once the meeting was over and all the other men walked out I put a hand over Carson's before he could get up. I needed to know what was wrong.
"Hey, what's wrong?" I asked softly and intertwined our fingers.
I watched as he let out a sigh and rubbed his thumb over my knuckles, more for himself then me.
"My family's in town. My mom and dad live in the city but my siblings live all around the world. But now they're all here. And every time I see them, they always lecture me on finding someone and it annoys the crap out of me." He grumbled and stared at our hands like it was the only reason he was staying calm.
After I heard what he said I knew what I needed to do. Or what we could do.
"Then bring me with you when you go to see them. I can pretend to be your girlfriend." I said even though I really didn't want to pretend to be his girlfriend but so far I wasn't so all I could do was pretend for now.
I looked up at him and saw a smile creeping onto his face. "You would do that for me?" He asked, finally looking up from our hands.
I smiled and nodded. "Of course I would. Now, when do you go see them?"
"Tonight, for dinner. I'll pick you up at your place at five thirty and wear something somewhat nice." He said before giving me a kiss on my head and walking to his office.
I couldn't help the big smile that was on my face as I worked. I know I was just going to pretend to be his girlfriend but it would be fun. Maybe after this I could be his real girlfriend. I couldn't let Brandon hold me back from my life anymore.
At five thirty I was all dressed and ready. I wore a nice red dress and curled my hair a little. I added a little bit of makeup and then I was ready.
Carson picked me up at five thirty exactly and we went over how we met and everything I needed to know about his family. We decided that we met because I was his secretary wasn't the best story. So we came up with the story that we bumped into each other in the park. And now, here we were going over his family's names.
"My youngest sibling is Charlotte but we all call her Charlie. The next one up is Cameron and then there's me. And then I have my older brother Corven. He's married to a girl named Harley who is currently pregnant." He explained as we drove down the road.
