The phone screen flickered in the darkness surrounding my bedroom. A bowl of frozen corn sat beside me. Occasionally I would dip my fingers into the cold treat or just full-out put my face against the chill and lick up kernels. Out side I could here the joyous giggles and impatient whines of children waiting to get their one piece of candy from my mother downstairs as I watched The Shining. Sure it was from an illegal website, but it was the only way to watch it.

Tonight was the night of trick-or-treaters and this was the first year I hadn't planned on going. I just thought it was useless to go around and try to get as much as you can for free with all of those lame single-candy houses when you can just buy yourself one bag that night and then five discounted ones the next day.

A ticking sound came to my window. I looked over at the glass panes to see nothing but the dark of night behind my curtains and the pale moon's glow blurred behind the threads. The street lamp across the street flickered for a split second. My eyes trained on the lamppost waiting to see if it would flicker again when I saw a round object fly up and hit the screen over my window. I rolled my eyes not wanting to deal with any high schoolers who thinks they're cool trying to mess with me or attempting to vandalize other people's property. That was so 80's and overdone.

Drawing back the curtains, another object hit the glass part of my window a bit harder than the others. I jumped back a little from it. My gaze fell to the ground below to see four bodies in their usual punk outfits holding balls of all sorts: wiffle balls, bouncy balls, and other various balls that wouldn't likely cause too much damage. I smiled down at them offering a wave. They kindly returned the gesture as I opened up my window.

"What are you doing?" I asked heavily confused.

Luke stepped up. "We're here to rescue the damsel in distress," he stated. He tossed up one of the bouncy balls in his hand before chucking it at the window screen separating me from the outside. The ball bounced back at the boys going farther than where they were standing. He jogged back to get it from the backyard.

"Funny," I began. "I don't remember sending out a distress signal."

"You didn't have to," he said walking back to the boys. "Intuition gave us all we needed?"

I cocked a brow at him. "Intuition?" I got down on my knees and leaned on my window sill. "What did your intuition tell you?"

He smiled. "That you're little plan to sit at home wasn't going to fly. You're coming with us."

"What makes you think that?" I asked resting my cheek in my hand.

"Because we all know you'd rather raise hell than be cooped up in your room all night," he answered. He had a point. Sometimes there were moments where I wish they didn't know me so well and would just leave me alone. We've grown so close that they always talk me into things they know I'll have fun doing and I hated how well we've gotten to know each other.

This is not one of those times.

The grin on my lips widened into a devious smile. "Oh yeah?" I laughed. "What do my knights in shining armor have in mind for tonight?"

Michael stepped up this time. "Why don't you come down and see for yourself, princess?" His lips widened into a challenging smirk.

Huffing, I lifted myself to my feet. I pulled out the screen of my window. The boys all dropped their balls and it looked like they were trying to figure out who would try and catch me as I pulled half my body out the window. It didn't take long before Luke and Calum broke away from the group. They situated themselves at the bottom of my window with their hands in the air. They helped my down with ease, thankfully, and placed me on my feet. Immediately I was bombarded with hugs by the boys.
