- chapter 1 -

The sun was bright for a typical Friday afternoon, but [Y/N]'s eyes shined brighter. As she searched the busy streets of Shibuya, her eyes landed on a Mcdonalds near Shibuya 109. Her stomach growled for the third time, craving for those salty fries and a refreshing cup of Sprite.

"That settles it," she thought. "Mcdonalds as my lunch it is."

[Y/N] made a sharp turned as she picked up the pace while walking towards the Mcdonalds. The line only had three people, and as it was noon, she was sure that many working men and women would come down to get a bite at the famous fast-food restaurant. She didn't want to be caught up in that long line so she strode even faster to her lunch. Arriving as the fourth person, she scanned the menu and wondered what to fill her stomach with.

"Mega Tamago or Chicken Tatsuta... Hm," she pondered as she waited for her turn. "Whatever, I'll just be panicked and choose one of those out of pressure."

"Next, please!" The man at the counter called. [Y/N] went up and greeted the man beforehand. However, before she could say her order, the man asked her if she would like to try the new Sakura Teritama burger that was out. After all, it was April- the beginning of Spring.

"Oh, sure? Are the drinks Sakura-themed too?"

"Yes! There is cherry blossom cherry soda, float drinks and desserts available too. Would you like those too?"

"Well, I haven't been able to try those before, so sure, I'll get the cherry blossom cherry soda."

"Alright, may I get your name?"

  "Mcdonald's asking for names now?"

"They're trying out something new, I don't know. Uhm, so your name?"

  "Ah, [L/N] [Y/N]."

Before the man could write down her name, he looked down on her and stared at her as if he was thunderstruck. The man was very tall, about 205cm, and quite skinny too. [Y/N] looked slightly perplexed as she felt an awkward tension growing between the two of them. She asked him if there was something wrong, and he replied,

"Oh! You're from Nekoma High! I'm Lev Haiba, your junior!"

Without catching a breath, Lev went on rambling about how it's been so good to see someone from Nekoma High again. He didn't pay attention to the queue that was building up behind [Y/N] (who couldn't even comprehend whatever he was saying) until the manager came by and smacked him on the head. Before [Y/N] left to collect her food, Lev promised to catch up with her in a moment.

"I don't even remember being that close to him." [Y/N] scratched her head.

When [Y/N] got her meal and sat down, just as promised, Lev came rushing in and sat opposite of her. [Y/N] studied him and realised that he looked somewhat different than before. Sure, now that Lev mentioned his name it made sense that he was Lev since he's still tall, still has the grey hair and awkward parting, still skinny. But it's been ten years. After she graduated, she hasn't continued speaking to anyone other than Kenma. So she couldn't recognise him at first glance.

Lev apologised for the unpleasant rambling he did a while ago. It was his bad habit, but that's what made Mcdonalds accept him in the first place. His charismatic and chattery-self was precisely the type that Mcdonalds needed.
