- chapter four -
"I wish things now were like they were in high school." A very snoozed [Y/N] hiccuped.
"Haha, wouldn't that be nice?" The mixologist, Ukai, laughed as he wiped his glasses.
"Right?" [Y/N] swung left and right. "Especially Kuroo and I. If things were like that now, I bet I would be able to see ALLLL the colours in the world~"
She giggled once more.
"Sorry, but we aren't particularly friends, Ms [L/N]-san." A very harsh voice interrupted her fantasy.
"Huh?"
Turning to her head at lightning speed, [Y/N] saw Kuroo, who was sitting beside her, glare at his beverage. He was mumbling inaudible curses which [Y/N] couldn't understand nor comprehend. All she knew was that, for some reason, it was all directed towards her.
"Oiiiii," she whined. "Don't be like that, Kuroo~ Just enjoy tonight, okay? It's on me!" She tried to hold his resting hand on the counter.
"Don't touch me!" Kuroo snatched his hand away from her. "Just stay away from me-"
"-you colourless monster."
Crack.
"I don't intend on talking to you."
Crack.
"I'm just dealing with you until this is over."
Crack, the final piece broke.
[Y/N] couldn't move. Her voice couldn't be heard.
For whatever reason there was, she was hopeless against this man. This engaged man whom she was undeniably interested in once more after ten whole years. Her entire body froze still as she watched him get up and leave the bar. As his back grew further from her, she began to lose the colours she earned. She could feel herself getting engulfed by a massive wave of loneliness and sorrow. It was hurting her. It was killing her.
Even though blue and yellow were the only two colours she could see, it meant the world to a colourless person. It meant even more that Kuroo wanted to have a drink with her. But seeing him, leave, she began to shout with all her might:
"Don't go!" [Y/N]'s face became red. "Don't leave me alone! Not again! Not again! No more! Please, don't leave me!"
She couldn't move an inch. Not at all. Her body was completely frozen up.
"Kuroo! Don't go! I need you here with me! I'm your soulmate, please!" She kept begging and begging like there was no tomorrow. "Just give me a chance! Let me try again! PLEASE, I LOVE-"
She sat up from the bed.
Her breath was jagged.
The air in the room was utterly still.
"A.... dream?" [Y/N] quickly darted her eyes at her immediate surroundings. White walls, white bed, even a white closet. At least, she's pretty sure that it's white. She checked if she could still see blue and thankfully, she sighed a breath of relief after confirming that it was still there. However, her heart dropped when she saw the colour of her turtleneck: Yellow.
As if she had forgotten entirely about seeing it back in the bar the previous night.
"More importantly, where am I?" She spoke out loud, quite worried. This was not her apartment. It felt extremely uncomfortable for her to be in someone else's bed. Coincidentally enough, just as she spoke those words, her eyes happened to land on the pictures on the wall. Pictures of a couple together portrayed for the past ten years or so. One with them on a date, one with them graduating, one of them kissing, and so on.
