- chapter eleven -
Black water. Black sea. Black skies.
Nothing spoke more dangerously than the environment Kuroo found himself in once more. From the waves crashing into his face, Kuroo burst his eyes open to find himself in the nightmare again. The nightmare that brought him and Y/N together. Kuroo cursed at himself for allowing this nightmare to enter his mind once again. But time was not of the essence as he could slowly feel himself sinking into the floor.
"Fuck, not again!" He kicks his legs frantically as he tries to swim upwards and find something to hang on. Unfortunately for him, nothing seemed to be working for the poor man. Holding his breathe in, Kuroo could feel the black sea slowly pulling him downwards, away from the sky.
"The sky?" He thought to himself out loud. Just then, a wave of realisation washed through his mind. "[Y/N]!"
Kuroo stretches his head up and squints pasts the clouds blocking his path. At the other end of the world was a young [H/C] woman who was slowly sinking into the black ocean. Immediately recognising who it was, Kuroo struggled to stay afloat as he desperately called out to the girl who was drowning above him. He reached out his arm, hoping that he would magically fly into the sky and save her from drowning. With a strong inhale, the desperate man yells out his soulmate's name to garner her attention.
"[Y/N]!"
The [H/C] girl jerks awake from the sound of something far away. The first thing she noticed was her inability to move. Her face grew pale as she struggled to swim and stay afloat too. Unable to move her legs from the water, she desperately scanned her surroundings to find the source of the voice. After a repeat of her name being called out, she looks up to find the voice of the person calling out to her. With no surprise indeed, it was her soulmate.
"K-Kuroo!"
Kuroo's face lit up as he saw her head looking up and noticing him.
"[Y/N], I--"
"Kuroo!"
Finally reuniting with their eyes locked on each other, the two soulmates try their hardest to swim out of the trench pulling them deeper and deeper each time. They struggled and swam their hardest, reaching their arms out to even get an inch closer to each other. But the gravity pulling them deeper into the sea was too strong, no matter their struggle.
Amidst their desperation to feel each other again, small whispers could be heard floating around their ears. They sounded human, though unrecognisable to who it was. Slowly, the voices started to grow louder. Angrier. The two soulmates soon felt the voices yelling into their brains.
You can't be together.
You shouldn't be together.
You will never be together.
The echoes of rumours and insecurities shook the two soulmates down into their core. Growing louder and louder, the two were too paralysed to make their next move or respond. They know it's true. They know they have to. Yet the tears prevented them from psyching themselves up. The tears that fell as they cried in silence. To suppress feelings they never knew they longed for. But no matter their efforts, everything grew blinding to their nightmare's eyes. As the two were still sinking into their own horrible deaths, their subconsciousness couldn't help but blurt out their exact suppressed emotions and longing need for each other.
"I love-"

[Y/N]'s eyes jerks away, tears forming on the corner of her eyes. The terrified girl slowly gets up, putting her palm on her temple. Her mind felt scattered, but her heart was aching with every beat. Again, she groaned. Again with that stupid dream. Annoyed with the disturbance of her nightmare, the girl slowly stretched and got out of her bed.
