- chapter three -

"You can see colours??" Kenma raised his voice in shock.

It was already 9 pm and [Y/N] was on her computer in her [F/C] pyjamas. The two of them were doing their usual small chats before they went to bed. However, after everything that happened, [Y/N] had to call him a bit earlier to announce the shocking news.

"I'm just as shocked as you are. B-But, it doesn't make any sense! Why am I able to see colours now? I saw Kuroo-san, so what? My... fiasco with him ended years ago."

  There was no response.

  "Uh, Kenma?"

"You know, just because you haven't seen someone for years doesn't mean you've gotten over them. All it took was one look at him for your colours to be reignited." He had a hint of bitterness in his voice (which was rare considering that Kenma usually showed a poker face).

[Y/N] took a few seconds to process what he had said. 'Is he saying... no, that can't be.'

"Kenma, after all the trauma he's put me through, I doubt I-"

"Did you forget? Like it or not, Kuroo's your soulmate. No matter what, you're bound to get colours because you're tied to him and his feelings."

His facts confused [Y/N], for she asked him about how she was able to lose colours then.

"You guys strayed from each other. What else is there to say? And honestly," Kenma whispered the rest to himself. "I'm glad you guys did."

"Argh, this is too much for me!"

[Y/N] stood up from her desk and paced around her room. Her eyes were darting everywhere, specifically at all the blue things she could see. The butterflies in her stomach were rising as she continued overthinking about him.

Kenma tried to change the subject by asking on how she didn't realise it was Sakura Fujinuma whom she was e-mailing to.

"I- I don't know! It's been ten years, for fuck's sake! And uh, Fujinuma's a common last name s-so- I just didn't think that out of all the odds, that name would belong to her. Also," [Y/N] clenched her teeth at the thought of seeing Sakura's face again. "If she knew it was me, what are the chances that she'd continue sending me e-mails?  I- I think those two forgot about me."

"Don't be an idiot," He sighed. "I already told you- Kuroo was the same as you. Back then, he couldn't see colours until he met you. Likewise, he saw all the colours you saw. Which only means one thing: He, too, can see blue now."

[Y/N] stared at her blue pen as Kenma skimmed through the facts. Ten years ago, after the two broke off, Kenma revealed to [Y/N] that Kuroo couldn't see colours either. It was only when he met her did he start seeing colours as well. Likewise, when [Y/N] lost her colours, so did Kuroo.

Feeling hopeless, [Y/N] asked whether she should confirm that with Kuroo or not.

"I'd... I'd rather you not," The yellow-haired man selfishly whispered."If he's acting like he doesn't remember you, he probably doesn't want to engage with you either. But that's okay, right? I mean, it's not like you still love him, right?"

Now it was [Y/N]'s turn to leave no response.

"Right, [Y/N]?" He slowly repeated his words.

  She hung up.

The way Kenma said his last sentence as if it was a fact made [Y/N] trace back the events that happened just a few hours ago. That same uneasy feeling, that same nervousness, that same heart-racing moment when she grabbed Kuroo's hand, it was as if she was back to where she was 10 years ago: being in love with him.
