Beep beep. Beep beep.

It was 7:10 a.m. A new day for both Kuroo and Sakura. Sakura opened her eyes and slowly stretched her arms out. She tilted her head to the side and saw her significant other sleeping, back-facing her.

"Hey," She rolled over to him and gently shook his shoulder. "Wakey wakey. Time to get up."

Within seconds, Kuroo turned over and greeted her with a 'good morning'.

The couple stayed in bed a while longer and shared small talk. They caught up with each other's lives and had a good chuckle in-between. But something was wrong. The air just didn't feel like how it always felt. And Sakura could clearly sense it. After a while, Kuroo slowly stopped talking and daydreamed at his ceiling. The air grew even more awkward. The only audible thing was the loud aircon in their room and the birds barely chirping outside. Just as Sakura was about to ask something, Kuroo beats her to it.

"What colours can't you see?"

"Eh?" Sakura was surprised at his question. Oddly enough, the two never really talked about colours that much. It was just an uncomfortable topic to even think of. After all that happened ten years ago, neither of them wanted to bring their past along with their future.

"Yellow. Why?"

"Hmm, must be nice." He took a big sigh. "Only missing yellow out of everything."

"Babe," Sakura placed her hand on him. She was evidently worried about her partner. He never talked about colours. So why now? "Why are you asking this all of a--"

"It's okay, I was just.. thinking about something."

Not even letting Sakura reply, he got up and went to the toilet to wash his face and brush his teeth.

'Or someone..' Her brows furrowed as she stared at him.

It was a fairly sunny day in Tokyo. The clouds were clear and the people walked briskly amongst the street. Not too hot, not too dull either. It was a perfect morning. But amongst the crowd was a tall, dark-haired man running past everyone and saying 'excuse me' after every two seconds. Almost late for work, Kuroo was rushing to a meeting. Fixing his tie and bed hair while running, he didn't have any time to admire the scenery around him. Even if that scenery had colours, it wasn't worth being late and losing his job.

"Sorry I'm late!" He barged into the room, panting for his life. His head was facing the floor, so he couldn't see who was already in the room.

"Oh, Kuroo-senpai," One of the new recruited employees was sitting down at the table. "Aren't you ea-"

"I brought all the documents! I know.. huff, we said we wouldn't talk about this until tomorrow, but Mr. Naka gave me permission to carry on ahead. Either way, I.. huff, I think you guys would be pleasantly surprised with the experiments. They.. huff, were a total succ-"

As he looked up, only one person was in the meeting room.

"I'm sorry, Kuroo-senpai," The new recruit got out of his seat to hand him a glass of water. "The meeting got postponed to 4pm. Didn't you read your email this morning?"

"........"

He briefly thanked his co-worker for his water and slammed the door behind him. The employee sweat dropped as he heard Kuroo cursing out loud while leaving the place.

"GOD DAMNIT!" All his co-workers poked their heads out to stare at the man who just poured water all over his untidy suit. "WHAT'S WITH TODAY?"

And so, for the rest of the day, Kuroo just had to suck up to his unfortunate morning. The day went on as usual-- lab experiments and meeting was his usual routine. But every now and then, Kuroo would catch himself staring at anything coloured. A blue pen, a purple substance, a red marker, anything that had colours would momentarily catch his eyes. But now it was different. Ten years ago, he would be so overjoyed knowing he could finally see colours. But now, every time he sees something, his heart aches. Because now he knows, that [Y/N] is going through the same thing as him right now. Somewhere, she's also suffering. And he can't be there to make her smile. Not for now, anyways.
