The Sudden

Horror lurks in an anxious imagination
The truth is concealed by individual anticipation
The winds of sadness inflate the nerves
Lies are all that the darkness serves

Fickle dreams of a happy last summer
Fade away while recalling the drummer
His rhythmic beat returns to a wistful mind
Longing for a time of the blissful kind

The change did not happen overnight
Yet, it seemed to upon applying hindsight
As the days passed and the leaves fell
So too, did a life down a mental well

Every day spent worrying about nothing
Building it always into something
Without further thought of the true situation
Incompatible with the brain's central station

In summation, the sudden occurred
By an unknown factor was it spurred
And it caused much fear and despair
Inside a mind that was unprepared
