BEEP.
BEEP.
BEEP.
MALFUNCTIONING.
PROGRAM CRASHING.
SYSTEM OVERLOAD.
"No-" to say the doctor was terrified would be an understatement, he started pushing buttons, spamming codes as fast as he possibly could... but nothing worked.

LOCATION UNKNOWN.
TIME UNKNOWN.

The doctor was speechless... he couldn't do anything at that moment, his guilt rushed in as he realized that the risk he took, risking a human's life, risking an innocent baby for a project just wasn't worth it.
Guilt ate every inch in him, tears overwhelmed his eyes, and he drops on the floor, unconscious.

....

"What time is it," he muttered.

5 am.

I've been here for two hours...
What am I going to do?
How am I going to get the kid
What am I going to tell his mother
Oh god, his mother... oh god his mother.

The doctor walked out of the room towards his little hidden entrance.

He walked to his office dragging his body and shame enough to fill the hospital. He couldn't possibly face Max's mother, how can you tell a mother that she lost one of her two newborns without having your heart being ripped away from your body? Let alone that this very time you have a hand in it.

He walked to his office only to see that the other crib was empty too, he figured one of the nurses had already brought Sky to his mother.

That boy will grow up alone because I killed the one friend who could possibly be there by his side at all times.

I ruined an entire family's future...

He sat on his desk as another wave of guilt drowned him in sorrow and pain

Another hour had passed, an hour of him trying to process what he could possibly do.

He got up from his desk and walked feeling a lot of eyes gazing at him bolting through his body like bullets, the way they all look at him was no different from the way they did previously, but previously he had no guilt, no reason to questions people's looks, he hadn't killed anyone previously, or so he thought.

Knock, my knees are shaking
Knock my eyes are filled with tears
Knock I am going to do what any sane person would do at that moment.

"Hello Miss Sandra," he almost choked on his own words

"Hey," she said holding one of her children, the one she has left

"Where is Max?" She asked, he felt his bones explode, shatter, and get blown away, one with every word she said.

"Miss Sandra," he paused and he could already feel like she knows.

"I'm sorry to deliver you this news but..."

"But what?" She cut him off with a single tear falling off her left eye.

He stayed silent

"But what!" She demanded

"Your son, he..." inhale... exhale
"Max passed away," he lied.
