Logan's POV
Church with Derek was good. Blake was really nice and charming, definitely, and I could see why everyone liked him. I found out he, Tony, and Anna were all homeschooled, that's why I didn't see them at school, and that Alyssa went to a different school than us. I think Miguel was disappointed about that, he totally liked her.
David was pretty cool. I liked him as a Sunday school teacher. He made it really fun to be learning more about God. The Pastor was pretty cool too. I liked the Colossians study.
I talked to him after the service, when Blake left and Derek was talking to someone else.
"Hey, Pastor. Can I talk with you for a second?" I asked him.
"Yeah. You're Derek's friend, right?"
"Yeah. Logan Skyler. My brother James and adoptive brother Miguel are here somewhere too."
He grinned. "I talked to James. He's a character." I laughed and he let out a deep chuckle. A lady, who I assumed was his wife walked up to us.
"Oh, Logan, this is my wife, Barb. Honey, this is Logan, Derek's friend." I shook her hand and she smiled at me.
"Nice to meet you."
"Likewise"
Pastor James looked at me, "So what were you wanting to talk about?" He asked me.
"Well, do you have a copy of your Church doctrine and all that stuff? Me and the guys just moved and we're lookin for a church, I'm interested in his one, and I think the others are too so I figured we could look it over if that's ok."
Barb and him shared identical smiles, "Yes, let me go to my office and get it. Unless you'll be back tonight, then I can get you some information tonight instead."
I nodded. "I should be back tonight, and if not, then you could send it with Derek. After we look over things and pray about it all, would be able to meet with you guys and talk about things if we have questions?" I answered.
He smiled. "That would be wonderful. Maybe you could share a supper with us or something."
Our church back home was similar, but was a little bigger and I was already in love with this one. Plus, since Derek and his family went here, we'd be able to stay close and protect them. I wondered about the security in the church, so I thought about pulling some strings to see if one of my older friends, an man named Thomas, could visit and talk about security. He was a cop of sorts, but he specialized in things with security, especially church security. Which made him perfect to look into it.
I talked with the Pastor and Barb for a while longer and then I went to find Derek. He found me and said it was time to go.
We went out and we eventually got situated so I would go with Derek's family and he'd go with James and Miguel. Derek walked me over to his parents and Ethan and introduced me. I liked them right away. His dad, Walker, was pretty funny and his mom, Shauna, was really nice.
Shauna told me to get in and then we'd be off, and Derek shut my door and jogged to James' car. We left and Walker was talking to Shauna about something to do with church, and then he looked in the rear view mirror at me. "So Logan, how'd you meet Derek?"
I gave a little laugh, "I have these seizure type things sometimes and my first day of school, of course I had to have one, and he helped me because I had a bump on my head. Then we had classes together so we got to know each other a little more."
Ethan laughed, "Yeah, everyone talked about you that day. I heard a couple people say stuff about a girl dying that morning and stuff, but then Derek told me what happened. He lifeguards sometimes at the local pool, so he's pretty good with first aid stuff." Ethan said proudly.
