Logan's POV

Derek seemed pretty nice. He was kinda cute too, but I knew I shouldn't let it go any further than that, because it couldn't work. As an agent, one of our top rules is to not get connected. Don't get too personal. Because it's all an act, regardless of what you want to call it. People can get hurt worse when they get close to you and then you suddenly leave. It had happened before with other agents and usually resulted in them quitting their job or losing someone they ended up loving. I wasn't really wanting either of those and was content with where I was. I trusted that God would lead me where He wanted me to go so I just stuck with that faith.

The bell rang and we all dispersed to different classes. I had PreCalc, which I wasn't too excited about. I had already done all this and had technically graduated so that I could be an undercover college student if needed and so I was prepared for any other covers the agency dreamed up. I had passed it just fine but it was by far, my least favorite class I had ever taken. I was in it with Anthony and Derek. I walked in right away, with Anthony right behind me, and found us to be the first ones in there. I walked up to the teacher, "Mr. Wilkins" and introduced myself. He stood up and introduced us to himself quickly and said that we could sit anywhere we wanted, that he had made up a new seating chart that he was going to give out today.

A couple people flowed in slowly, including Derek, and he waved and walked over to us quickly. "Hey! Logan and uh-Anthony, right?" We nodded and grinned at him. "You wanna sit by me for now?"

I shrugged, "Why not?" Anthony shrugged and followed Derek to his seat. I sat down to the right of Derek, by the door, and Anthony sat behind me.

Derek pointed out a couple people, and said their names, just so we could maybe make new friends if we wanted. He watched a boy coming in that looked super happy to be in class and he practically skipped over to Derek. Derek laughed at him and he stopped and laughed too. He had been messing around to see what kind of impression he could give us. He introduced himself as Derek's friend, Jaden and he said that their friend Cameron or Cam, for short, was coming in soon. He came in as if I'm cue and introduced himself. Me and Anthony introduced ourselves to the two boys and they sat down with us, happy to have new people in their class.

"So Logan, you have a special dude yet?" Jaden asked and Anthony let out a loud laugh and Derek gave the most surprised and confused look.

I didn't know what to say, so I just played it off cool. "Uh, I like food, I guess? Does that count?" The guys, including Derek, laughed and I smiled with them.

Anthony laughed again as we slowed our laughs down, "Logan will chase the guys away if they try anything. Trust me, I've been in those situations. her brother James acts like he has to take care of her, but honestly, she does more of the protecting than him." I smiled halfway proudly, halfway embarrassed. Derek and I made eye contact and I just grinned sheepishly when he gave a short chuckle.

Jaden raised an eyebrow curiously but mischievously, "Are you interested in a guy? Derek here is still single."

Derek turned red and slapped his arm. "Dude! She just got here! Give her a break! Plus, Who said I'm looking for anyone?"

Anthony thought it was the funniest thing ever and he and Jaden laughed together. "It's ok I guess?"

Anthony smirked, "Derek, just name the time and the place and as long as there's food, she'll go on a date with you."

I shot Anthony a unamused look and he just grinned as if he was the most innocent person in the room. Derek shook his head, "I don't think she's interested, guys. Let's talk about something else." He was a little red and I tried not to admire how good looking he was, especially when he was embarrassed. He caught me looking and I just have a half smile and mouthed "Thank you." And he returned the half smile and we turned our attention to Jaden and Anthony talking about some girl that Jaden had his eyes on.
