Fast, Furious, and... On the Run?
[Chapter 3]
I just continued to stair at the note for a few seconds dumbfounded, who would do such a thing?
Well actually a lot of people. It's not like I was a nobody.
I broke out of my trance and started heading towards the door to my car. Just as I was about to pull it open, I realized I wasn't going anywhere with it. Not with all the damages someone caused.
Now I know why my gut feeling was telling me to leave my baby at home. I swear to God that if anyone had hurt my baby, I would track them down and kill them slowly.
Sure, it's only a car. But it's like your kid being kidnapped and killed. You would definitely want to kill the bastard.
I turned around to see Dean still standing there, looking as shocked and confused as I felt. A thought popped into my head.
"I need a ride. Where's your car?" I asked, in a shockingly level voice.
"Over there." He made a head motion to a few rows down. His car was obviously visible. While many kids had nice cars, only a few had racing cars.
"Keys?" I asked, as I put my hand out for them.
"No way, I'm coming with you." He didn't move an inch.
"I don't have time for this! Just give me the damn keys." I felt like ripping my hair out at this point.
"No can do. I don't trust anyone with my car. So either you start walking or I'm driving you."
I assessed my options, and realized it would take me much longer if I walked. "Fine. Let's go!" I grumbled and started off towards his car.
I didn't think things could get much worse. But of course when you think that, they always do.
We had just reached Dean's car, and I could see something taped to his passenger side window. I walked up to it, wondering what it could be.
Surely he didn't get the same threat, not when his car was in pristine condition. And right now, he was a nobody in the racing world of Miami.
I was close enough to see what it was, and I felt my blood run cold.
It was a picture of my dad. There was a red 'x' right over him.
Quickly, I grabbed the paper, ripping it off the windshield only to realize there were more then that one piece of paper.
As I pushed aside the picture of my dad, my blood ran even colder. I don't know if it was possible, but surely my blood was so cold it was ice right now. The second picture was of Steve.
And just like with my dad there was a red 'x' crossing him out.
"DRIVE! NOW!" I yelled at Dean as I ripped the passenger side door open and hopped in.
He followed, but with a confused expression on his face, even more so then before. He hadn't seen the pictures, for which I was almost grateful.
I felt so close to breaking down. Sure, my dad and I didn't get along much. We were always arguing, but he was still my dad, and I would be wracked with guilt if anything were to happen to him.
Steve was a whole other story though. He was my best friend through thick and thin. Loosing him would be far worse then my dad.
Dean spoke quietly, breaking me out of my thoughts, "Where to?"
"Turn there, then take a left, and a right. Go to the garage, you can't miss it." I could barely speak, my voice sounded dead.
The car had barely stopped when I jumped out and ran for the back door. I pulled it open and stormed inside. "Steve?!" I looked around but there was no reply. "Steve!"
I made my way to where his car was usually parked. Still here. "STEVE!"
It was quiet for a few seconds before I heard a faint sound, coming from the actual garage area.
"Steve?" I asked making my way towards the sound.
I heard the sound reply again, and I started moving faster. Once I was in the front part of the garage, I saw there were three cars that were being worked on.
One was raised up in the air and the other two were on the ground.
"Steve?" I asked once again.
This time I heard a more audible sound. It almost sounded like, "Over here." But I couldn't be sure.
I looked around the room and didn't see anyone. All of a sudden something came to mind.
Once I remember watching a movie where a guy tried to kill a lady's boyfriend by trapping him under a car that he was working on.
Quickly I started to move around the two cars that were on the ground. The first one was clear, I couldn't spy any feet sticking out.
I made it halfway around the second car without seeing feet. But as soon as I made my way around the other side, I saw two legs that were unmistakably Steve's. "Oh my God. Steve!"
I started to panic, looked around for the button to raise the car. I couldn't find it and I was on the verge of tears.
All of a sudden, out of no where, I heard the clank of the machine and it started to rise.
I let out a shaky breath I hadn't realized I was still holding, "Thank God."
"Nah, just thank me." Dean came out of no where.
Well not exactly out of no where, he was on the other side, and I could just see him as the car was still in the way. In the chaos, I had totally forgotten that he was even here.
Once the car was high enough, I grabbed the end of the dolly (a/n: that thing the mechanics lay on and it has wheels on it so they can get under the car ;D) and pulled it out slowly.
"Ouchhh." Steve groaned.
"Steve, I am so sorry. Are you okay? Dean, call the ambulance." I was talking so fast, I wouldn't be surprised if neither of them could understand me.
"Shh, calm down. I'm fine. It's not your fault." Steve tried to reach his hand out towards me, but grimaced and kept his arm where it is.
"But it is. Someone shot at me in the parking lot, and my car was destroyed, and there was a note telling me to get out of town while I could, and there were pictures of you and my dad with red 'x's-"
"Just calm down. Take a deep breath. Go check your dad then, make sure he's safe. Then you need to find out who's doing this."
I nodded, grabbing my keys for my baby, and unlocked it. Just as I was about to start the car, Dean climbed in the passenger side.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, giving him a weird look.
"Well, I figured you might need my help. Especially if your dad is stuck under a car also." He gave me a small smile, and I could tell he was trying to lighten the mood. "Plus you might need some moral support.
