Fast, Furious, and... On the Run
[Chapter 14 part2]
I stared wide eyed at my phone in shock. No. No, this could not be happening again.
Just then a thought occurred to me, if Steve hadn't forgotten the car keys we all would have been in the car when it exploded. Oh god.
But wait. Why would this person have texted me if I had died. Unless... I started to franticly search around the room. I had no clue what I was searching for. I guess just anything that was out of the ordinary.
I could not find anything out of the ordinary, but when someone touched my shoulder I almost had a heart attach. I screamed and whipped around to reveal a confused Dean, "Um... Are you okay."
I was about to tell him I was fine, but I could only imagine how terrified my face looked, so instead I handed him my phone that I still had not closed. The message apparent on the screen.
Oddly, or maybe not so odd, he had the same reaction. He started to scan the room before he started pushing me - who was still unhappily stuck in a wheel chair - off somewhere.
Confused I asked him, "Where are we going?"
"Steve. How out of it were you?" He asked slightly amused, "He had a few cuts and scrapes so they took him to a room to get treated. It's probably safer for you to stay there for now."
"Well you're not going anywhere either." I pointed out, understanding the way he said you.
"I'll just check everything out around here. See if I can find someone suspicious. No big deal." He said like it was truly no big deal.
"Like hell you are. If you leave I'll just get out of this wheel chair and follow you." I said with determination.
"Whatever." He replied as we finally made it to Steve's room.
Sure enough there was a nurse working on him to cover a few cuts. It didn't look like anything major.
Just after we entered, a police man followed, "The car that exploded out in the parking lot, it belonged to you three right?"
"Well, it was actually my car. But yeah." I replied.
"I have a few questions to ask everyone." He said simply. There was something off about this guy and I did not like it.
As I looked over at Dean and Steve I saw them both eying the guy suspiciously, and I could tell they were having the same thoughts that I was.
Steve was the one to speak up though, "May I see your badge good sir?" He asked in an almost comical way.
Except the police officer's reaction was not comical.
All of a sudden, he reached out and started pulling me towards him. Damn wheel chair, I thought as I pulled back my fish and punched him square in face. "God dammit!" I yelled pulling my hand back quickly. Not only because that hurt, but this was really starting to get on my nerves.
I would like to have a normal life just once! Is that really to much to ask for.
Next thing I knew, I was being pulled backwards and pushed behind the bed. The nurse who was previously working on Steve was screaming bloody murder. And Steve and Dean were both jumping the guy, who was now trying to run away.
Everything happened so fast. There was just so much going on, it was hard to take in one thing at once.
All I know is that there were six fists flying, but then two of them grabbed both Steve and Dean and threw them against different walls. Before I could get up from my spot, the supposed police man was out of the room.
Moments later, hospital guards came swarming in followed by a few doctors. That was the last thing I saw before everything went black.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Half an hour after all the commotion I woke again. Apparently I had passed out because of shock and stress combined. Great right?
Also turns out that the 'police man' escaped. While the hospital surveillance was able to get one good shot at his face plus the three of our descriptions they could not find him in any database. But the actual police men promised his face would be posted everywhere and he would be found.
By this time my dad had been alerted of the news and had joined us at the hospital. Which turned out to be a good thing seeing as my car is now in little pieces.
Speaking of which... I can easily say that the worst part of this day has been the death of my car. I mean really? What did my cars ever do to these bastards that they feel the need to destroy them. Not one, but two. Especially my baby.
But at the end of the day, I was happy that I was able to say that everyone I cared about was okay, and that I was okay also.
