Fast, Furious, and... On the Run?

[Chapter 7]

"Can I get a room for one?" I asked the hotel receptionist as I scanned the lobby for anything out of the ordinary.

"How long will you be staying?" The guy looked up from the computer where he had been previously clicking away at the keys.

"Um..." how long would I be staying? I don't know... "Four days?" Sounded good enough to me.

He started typing again, when he looked up, he looked me over for the first time. He himself was older, maybe mid to upper thirties, starting to bald by the looks, but still looked pretty muscular for his age. "Look kid, we have a few rooms left, but you can't afford them. Why don't you try the motel down the road?"

"Try me." I said in a bored tone.

"For four days it would be nine hundred dollars for our cheaper room." I swear that he rolled his eyes a little, but it was very slight.

"I'll take it." I replied with a smirk as I reached into my bag and threw nine hundred onto the spot in front of him.

"Um... My apologizes for what I said earlier miss." He looked awestruck, "Let me get you your key." He disappeared into a back room and emerged a few minutes later with a key card. "You're room 506, if you need anything just ring down here." His attitude had totally changed.

I just rolled my eyes, "Thanks." And took off for the elevator.

I wasn't surprised that it cost that much, it was obviously a nice hotel. There was a chandelier made out of diamonds in the lobby. That itself just screams uppity hotel. I knew I couldn't stay here forever, eventually my money would run out. But four nights wouldn't hurt, especially after everything I've been through today.

I just wanted a hot bubble bath and maybe some hot cocoa.

Finally the bell dinged, indicating that it had stopped on the fifth floor. I grabbed my luggage and stepped out. After a few minutes of trying to figure out which way the number went, I headed left. 510, 508, there, 506. I dug the key card out of my pocket and pushed it into the slot. The light turned green as a maid walked by, "Hey?"

She looked up from whatever she was doing on her cart, "How can I help you?" She said in a polite voice.

I was about to reply when I noticed a scar near her eye. Weird, "Can I get a few extra towels?"

"Here you go. Have a nice stay."

"Thanks." I gave her a half smile before walking into my room, shutting the door behind me.

Oh, wow. No wonder this room was nine hundred dollars. I was standing in a little living room type thing, and there were a bunch of doors all around. I started opening them to figure out what was behind each. One was my bedroom, big queen sized bed, dressers, vanities, and everything else you could think of. The next was the bathroom, there was a shower, and bath tub/Jacuzzi, two sinks, a toilet, and super fluffy towels. I could get used to this... The last door was a giant walk in closet. I don't know why you'd need one if you were only staying a few nights, but what the hell!

I opened the door that led to the bed room and tossed the bag on the bed. Time for a long bubble bath. After making sure the water was warm, I added some bubbles and turned the jets on. This is just what I needed, I thought as I sunk into the water.

I must have fallen asleep, because the water was now extremely cold and there weren't a lot of bubbles left. I sat there debating if I wanted to get out or not when I heard a bang. I jumped, kind of scared of what it could be. You would be slightly paranoid too if you had a day like mine.

It was quiet for a minute and I started to think I had imagined it, but then it started up again. BANG BANG BANG BANG. I was definitely scared now... Then I realized that it was someone knocking the death out of my door.

Slowly I slipped out of the water, throwing one of the massive bathrobes around my cold, wet body. I started up again as I slowly made my way to the door. I resisted the urge the tell them they could stop and I was coming, just in case it was someone I didn't want knowing I was here...

I was now standing in front of the door, and was looking for a peep hole. But there wasn't one... What kind of hotel this expensive doesn't have a peep hole I thought to myself. After making sure the chain was in place, I opened the door just enough to peek out.

I was shocked when who ever it was almost knocked me over by pushing the door open. Or at least trying to push the door open.

"Open the damn door Baja!" The person roared.

I looked, and saw who it was, "GOD DAMMIT DEAN!"
