Chapter 5*

Date: 3/29/23

                     Leon's POV

     "I hate to say it, but we're sandwiched alright." I look away from the people and at the cabin. "Quick, in that cabin!"

     We run into the cabin and I quickly make sure it's safe before pulling Ashley inside and shutting the door.

     "Leon."

     I look and see that Luis is here too. He tosses me something to jam the door with. I catch it and jam the door.

     "Small world, eh? Well, I see that the President's equipped his daughter with ballistics too."

     "How rude! And I don't believe there's any relevance with my figure and my standing. Who are you?"

     I look around, checking the boarded up windows while Luis and Ashley talk.

     "Ho ho. Excuse me, Your Highness. Perhaps the young lady might want to introduce herself first before asking someone his name?"

     "Her name's Ashley Graham. The President's daughter." She replies with some attitude.

     Luis glances at me. "Is she, you know?"

     "Don't worry. She's cool." I tell him.

     He shrugs. "Ehh, nevermind. There's suppose to be some obvious symptom before you turn into one of them anyway."

     I quickly look when Ashley gasps. "Look!"

     "Ashley, upstairs!" I quickly order her which she follows without hesitation, running up the stairs and slamming something shut.

     Both Luis and I get our guns out. We share a glance and nod.

     "Okay. It's game time." Luis says with determination.

     After dealing with a never ending army of Ganados, they finally back off. I look out the window, watching them leave. "Looks like they're backing off."

     "So, what do we do now?" Luis asks, checking his gun before putting it away.

     "The bridge I crossed to get here is out, so I guess we have no choice but to keep moving." I answer as Ashley comes down the stairs.

     "I forgot something. You guys go on ahead." And with that, Luis heads out the door.

     "Luis." I get to the door and call out to him, but he doesn't turn back, disappearing from view. I collect all of the coins as well as any ammo and herbs. We leave the cabin and go to the blue flame of the merchant.

     I do some business with the merchant, before walking into the small building beside him."Bunch of Ganados or another giant. Guess another giant it is." I leave the little building and into the one between the gates.

     I look at the mechanism. "Guess this will open up the gate." I pull the lever to the right, watching the gears move.

     I head through the open gate with Ashley close behind. We make it to the doors and I take a deep breath, before walking through them. It opens into a canyon. I see a door with chains on the other side. "Come on."

     We quickly run to the other end towards the door. I get Ashley behind me when a giant jumps down on the other side, roaring loudly. It glares at us and begins to stomp over.

     "Leon! Look!"

     I see that she's pointing to a boulder on a wooden ledge. I shoot the ledge when the giant gets close. The boulder smashes onto it, causing it to stumble back with an angry roar.

     I have Ashley get by the door and out of the way of danger. I shoot at the giant and run past it when I get the chance. "Over here ugly!"

     It roars at me and comes at me, it's focus on me alone. I dodge the swipes and shoot at him. It roars in pain as something gets its leg. I don't get to see what as I'm tackled out of the range of its angry swing.

     My hands reach out and grab onto something soft. I look into the golden eyes of the woman. She looks down and I follow her eyes to my hands that are gripping her hips. We look back up at each other and she smiles at me with a wink.

     "Not the time, handsome." She quickly rolls us out of the way of the giant's fist as it crashes into the ground. We get to our feet and I go back to shooting at the giant while she darts around its feet with a knife, slashing at the giant's ankles.

     I push her out of the way of the giant's swing. It picks me up and starts squeezing me.

     "Leon!" I hear her call out before seeing her get onto its back. She starts stabbing her knife into it's neck causing it to drop me. It tries to throw her off before the parasite shows itself. I jump onto its back and help her slash at it.

     I grab her and throw us both off of the giant as the parasite retreats. We both roll onto our feet and resume our strategy. I jump onto its back once we get the parasite to come back out. I slash at it and jump off as the giant roars. I feel a hand grab mine and pull me out of the way as it falls forward.

     I look at the woman as she releases my hand. I can tell that once again, she's hesitant of doing so. "Thanks."

     She nods with a soft smile before walking towards the chained door.

     Ashley runs over to me. "Leon! Are you okay?"

     I just nod, keeping my eyes on the woman. I walk over to her as she slashes the chains with her knife. I watch her kick the door down. "Glad to see your leg is doing better."

     She looks at me and smiles. "Yeah. Thanks again for that, Leon."

     I can't stop the small smile that appears on my face when I see her's. I quickly run after her when she goes to turn the corner. I grab her hand causing her to halt and look at me. "How do you know my name?"

     "Luis." Is all she replies with before slipping her hand from mine, taking a few steps away.

     I feel Ashley run up beside me but I keep my eyes on the woman as she begins to walk away. "Can I at least get your name?"

     She pauses for a second, looking over her shoulder at me. A moment of deja vu hits me when I look at her eyes. Instead of seeing her, I see the black wolf. A loud noise behind me causes both me and Ashley to look behind us. I quickly turn back around when I saw that some rock caused the noise. And once again, she disappeared when I looked away. I make my way to where she was and look around only to see no sign of her.

     "Everytime I look away..." I mutter under my breath. My thoughts go to what she said. 'So her and Luis know each other. I'll ask Luis about her when I see him again.'

     "Well that was rude." Ashley says, walking over. "Leon, who was that woman?" She moves to stand in front of me when I take too long to answer. "Uh, Leon?"

     I shake my head, chuckling. "She's a new friend. Let's go." I walk past her, mind going back to the mystery woman. 'And one hell of a woman.'
