The weeks leading up had been hell for you. There hadn't been much word about what was happening. All you could really hope for was that everyone was safe. It was foolish to think that nothing was going to happen. You knew deep down that this wouldn't end without bloodshed.

You couldn't remember the last time you had laughed or even smile. If Hisagi wasn't constantly watching you, you probably would have forgotten to eat most of the time. Why did he have to go? Surely the others could have handled it on their own.

A sigh escaped your lips as you shuffled through the Rukongai. You had just dropped off a couple snacks for the kids that lived there

You and Komamura would always visit and drop some necessities for them to get by. You knew how hard it was growing up there. They always asked for him and your reply was a blatant lie that he was just away on business. Not knowing any better they believed you.

A good few minutes of walking you had made it back to the Sereitei. A commotion was going on when you returned. A number of reapers were gathered around as cries and cheers echoed. It pissed you off a little that they were partying when so much of your fellow reapers were risking their lives.

You stopped cold when you caught sight of Iba, Rangiku, Hitsugaya, Byakuya, Rukia and a number of other reapers.

Without another word you bolted forward pushing through the sea of bodies forcefully. You stopped when you spotted Ichigo talking with some of the reapers. You turned to Iba who now had a crescent shaped scar on the right side of his face.

When he caught sight of you, his gaze lowered.

"(Y-Y/N).." he mumbled under his breath. You grinned looking at him earnestly.

"Where is he Iba-san. I can't wait to see him." you said excitedly. The air around you seemed to have thickened as the voices around started to get quiet.

Ichigo walked forward looking sullen. "We lost a good bit of people (Y/N)-san... Sajin-san h-he.." the orange haired male choked up not able to utter the words.

Your eyes opened slowly as you tried to make sense of what he was saying. Iba spoke the words you had been dreading. "Komamura sacrificed himself...to protect what was important to him."

Everything seemed to move in slow motion as their words echoed in your head.

"N-No...it can't be..h-he promised he would come back..." you murmured. You trembled as you wrapped your arms around yourself.

"I'm sorry (Y/N)." Ichigo said sympathetically. You eyes turned blank as your body suddenly felt light.

"I begged him...I knew something was going to happen.." Thick droplets gathered in your eyes as your body started to glow a light blue. Ichigo looked at you in shock as a huge amount of reiatsu erupted from your body. Your body swayed as you fell to your knees bawling out in pain.

Everyone surrounding you staggered back at the sudden raise in pressure.

"W-What's going on!?!!" Ichigo yelled as he tried to keep his body steady. Byakuya let out a small grunt feeling the suffocating effects of your abilities. "How is she releasing..so much.." he thought in confusion. Dust had risen greatly around you, making it difficult for them to see your small figure.

"W-We have to get her under control!!" Hitsugaya said urgently.

"(Y/N)!!" a voice yelled in the distance. Hisagi had sprinted the moment he had felt your reiatsu spike. He stopped directly in front of you sadden form. He had seen this happen to you once before. And although your pressure was stifling, it was familiar. He could bare it just long enough to get you back to your senses.

You were still crying as waves of energy emitted from your body. Hisagi kneeled next to you, pulling your devastated form into a hug. He held you tightly, trying to coax you back to normal.

The only reason you would be crying like this had to mean that Komamura was...

Hisagi clenched his fists. He looked back at you remembering what he had promised his comrade.

"I will look after her. "

His next words were almost to painful to say.

"He's gone (Y/N)....we have to move on without him.." Hisagi lamented. You could hear the strain in his voice. He was trying to convince you as much as himself. You sobbed lightly as your pressure started to lower. When the dust had settled, everyone around stared at both you and Hisagi clutching unto each other on the ground.

Regretful stares were exchanged among everyone present.

"Komamura-taicho..." you sniffed holding Hisagi tighter.

How were you going to live without him?

He was your everything.
