Chapter 2

When you had gotten there you spotted him playing with some of the kids. He held a ball in his hand as some of the younger children tried jumping to get the ball, which was clearly impossible due to his size. He lowered giving the ball to the smallest girl of the group. The child look a little hesitant but slowly took the ball. He smiled at her causing her to do the same as she reached out to pet him softly on his head.

He laughed as some of the other kids pushed forward to get a chance at touching his fur. You smiled at the scene cheek glowing slightly.

"He really is something else."

You hadn't noticed you had been just standing there staring until Komamura spotted you.

"(Y/N), it seems you recovered quite quickly. He stood to his full height now holding a couple kids on his shoulders and head. They giggled when he moved towards you.

"I-I was fine r-really, it was no big deal." you assured waving your hands dismissively. He gave you a once over as if checking for any injuries, and you fidgeted on the spot feeling a little nervous of his brooding stare.

"I'm glad you're fine, I can't have one of my officers getting hurt on my watch now can I." His words were so sincere, one of the many things you absolutely adored. He was such a loving person.

"Is she your girlfriend fox-chan?" the little girl perched on his shoulder asked curiously. You sputtered cheeks immediately turning red. "N-No I-I'm n-not, h-hes just my c-captain t-that's all!!" you practically screamed out. The other kids laughed at your flustered state. You turned to gauge Komamura's reaction. He just had a smile on his face as he looked back at you.

Your blushed darkened as you directed your gaze to the floor.

"She's a very strong member of my squad, her strength closely rivals that of my third seat officer. " Komamura spoked as the children stared at you with awed expressions.

"You must be pretty strong then!" one of them gushed.

"I-I guess so.." you muttered.

The little girl smiled brightly as she looked at you. "I'm gonna be just like you!!" she cheered. The other kids laughed along voicing similar statements as Komamura chuckled.

"You all will indeed become strong, dedication and passion will get you a long way. " He gave one last smile before he placed them back down ushering them to their homes.

You watched as they waved at him vigorously before running off. You were in a daze, admiring the blissful expression on his face as he watched them.

"Komamura-taicho...."

When you both had started to make your way back to the Sereitei you kept sneaking glances at his replaying Hisagi's advice. He was like an older brother to you ever since you guys had been in the academy. He never let you down when you needed him, although he had a very bad habit of getting into some pretty dumb situations with Izuru and Rangiku.

After you told him about your obvious crush on your captain, he made it his mission to get you to fess up and just tell Komamura.

"Just be honest with your feelings (Y/N)."

You bit your bottom lip worriedly thinking over all the worst case scenarios in your head.

"Is there something wrong? You've been very quiet since we left the Rokungai. " Komamura spoke quietly. His movements halted as he turned to you.

"N-Nothing is wrong, I-I was just lost in thought that's all." you flashed him a smile for good measure hoping he would just drop it.

No such luck.
