CHAPTER 27

It's been two weeks and Amelia still hasn't talked to me yet. I know I was wrong for not stopping Josh but I was scared. What did she really expect me to do after he threatened to rape me too. I wanted to tell her I was sorry for letting that happen to her and apologize for everything but every time I would try to contact her she wouldn't respond. She went as far as blocking me from everything and she even blocked my number. When I see her at school all I feel is guilt but I guess I was just going to have to get over it.

"Mom I'm about to leave out for school" I yelled up the stairs before I left out the front door. I didn't even want to go to school today. My brother went out of town with our dad, Amelia was still mad at me, and I didn't really have any friends outside of those two. Most of the other people who hang around me are only my quote on quote friends because my family has money. It really made me regret everything that happened with Amelia she was my only real friend. I was going to take my time getting to school and if I ended up missing the whole day I'll just try again tomorrow.

As I was walking a black charger slowed down on the side of me as I sped up. I wasn't walking fast because I didn't know who it was. I started walking fast because I knew exactly who it was. "Aye Dani slow yo ass down and get in this car" Josh yelled out of his car window as he stopped his car a few feet from me. I let out a deep breath then headed towards his car.

It was getting cold outside because the season was changing and Thanksgiving was coming soon. These last couple of weeks have been crazy and hectic as fuck. I found out my mother wasn't dead after 16 about to be 17 years, my daughter was kidnapped, and above all school has been stressful trying to make up all the work I missed when I was suspended. Though shit is crazy right now life goes on and I'm just happy Jassy is back home safe. Jada's mom was currently looking for new houses so they could move. They didn't feel safe there anymore and I understood why.

I was used to shit like this and it still fucked me up that they would go after Jassy. Miss Julia was jumpy all the time and she never wanted to stay in the house by herself. She tried to act like she was okay but we all knew the truth. Her eyes didn't have the same shine they used to and she doesn't smile as much anymore. Usually when everyone was going to be leaving the house Miss Cynthia would go over there to keep her company. My dad has my 'mother' at the warehouse in the dungeon trying to get answers out of her. If it was up to me I would've been killed her.

I know it sounds heartless but she faked her own death and abandoned her child. Miss Cynthia has been more of a mother to me than Milani ever has. I refuse to call her my mom because she hasn't earned that title and she doesn't deserve it. "You okay?" Jada said getting into the car pulling me out of my thoughts. "I'm good baby, you coming to my game tonight?" I asked as leaned over to give her a kiss. "Of course baby you know Jassy and I are going to be there cheering you on" Jada said giving me a big smile.

This year I was showing out on the court and that was another reason I had to turn in all this late work. I couldn't let my grades or gpa drop because if I did I wouldn't be able to play basketball this season. "I'm about to drop you home because I got practice before the game" I said as I backed out of the school parking lot. "Okay baby" Jada said grabbing my free hand as I drove with the other one. I turned to see her scrolling on Instagram as we rode in a comfortable silence. I swear this girl is so beautiful even when she didn't try she was the most gorgeous thing in the world to me.

"Stop at the gas station I'm tryna get some snacks before I go to the crib" Jada said which caused me to laugh. "The crib? Really baby I told you that you gotta stop usin my lingo you don't even sound right" I said still laughing as she looked up and smiled. "I'm a reflection of you though" Jada said smiling big as I pulled over to the gas station. I parked at a pumped so I could get some gas. I was going to wait but since we stopped already I might as well.
