What if

Emily was sleeping in Daniel's arms, the baby monitor was picking up the sounds of her newborn daughters breathing. As Emily wakes up to the sound of her phone ringing not bothering to check the time or who was calling she sits up letting out a yawn before putting the phone to her ear. She watches her husband shift in his sleep turning his body as his wedding band catches the light from the moon.

"Emily, it's Jack," she hears her friends frantic voice on the other end of the phone, "I need to drop off Carl, Declan just called. I have to get to the hospital."

"What happened? Is it Charlotte, do I need to wake Daniel?"

"No, don't wake Daniel unless you think he needs to be awake. It's my wife, she's gone into labor," Jack says causing Emily to smile.

Her best friend, hell she was more of a sister to Emily at this point Amanda was heavily pregnant with her and Jack's second child had finally gone into labor. She raised an eyebrow slightly confused on why her friend was with Jack's younger brother, but then again Amanda had insisted on helping Charlotte out in the nursery to get things ready for the newest addition to her and Declan's growing family. Charlotte had found out three weeks after Emily had her daughter; Charlotte and Declan already had a two year old little girl, she was their world.

"I'll wake Daniel so he knows Carl is coming," she says as she places her hand on her husband's shoulder, "I'll see you soon Jack."

"Daniel," she says rubbing his arm shaking him awake, "Daniel wake up, Jack is on his way."

Emily felt her husband shift in his sleep and then a light flip on, "It's time?" She gave her husband a quick nod before slipping out of bed as she slips on a sheer silk peach robe pulling it around her body.

"Yeah, in a couple of hours we are going to have a niece or nephew come into the world," she says walking across the floor to the door way of their bedroom, "I'm going to check on Lily and then get the guest room ready."

Emily paused when she saw the look on her husband's face, Daniel got out of bed pulling a shirt on and pajama pants. Walking over he touches his wife's cheek, "You go check on our children. I'm sure David will wake up once he hears Jack," Emily nodded softly smiling at the thought of her son waking at the voice of his best friend, "I'll get the room ready."

As soon as Emily made sure, David and Lillian were sleeping she walked down to the living room glancing at the time, it was 4:45 AM. Flipping on the light a soft warm glow filling it, Emily makes her way to the kitchen, making a pot of coffee hearing footsteps, she glances up seeing her husband.

"Daniel go back to bed, there is no sense in both of us being up," she says as the smell of brewing coffee fills the air, she reaches the bottom of the steps to meet her husband. Her hands moving up his chest as she leans into peck his lips, she felt Daniel respond his hands moving to her hips as he squeezes them gently.

"I could not go back to sleep even if I tried Em," he says his eyes connecting with hers as he rubs the small of her back, "Plus you are going to be up the rest of the day so why not be up together. Coffee smells wonderful."

"I guess we are all up then", she says turning to get a travel mug, "I thought it be nice if Jack had some coffee, he's going to have a long day ahead of him."

As the hours past and the kids slept Emily stood by the glass door of her and Daniel's beach house watching the sun rise. After the sun had risen and her son was happily playing with Carl. Emily stood at the window in her living room watching the waves, smiling when she feels Daniel wrap his arms around her, as he leans in kissing her shoulder blade they sway back and forth. Emily had gotten word from Jack ten minutes ago when she was making the third pot of coffee that Amanda had delivered an 8 pound baby girl and they named her Kayla after one of Amanda's friends.

Walking up to her daughter's nursery, Emily walks past David's room hearing him and Carl talking, she stops leaning against the door frame watching her son and his friend play. As Emily smiles watching the boys play she hears the front door open after the door bell rang and then she heard Daniel call out for her, as Emily turns on her heels she pushes the door to the nursery open checking on Lily. Walking into the room she smiles seeing that the baby was still sleeping, once Emily was happy that her daughter was not disturbed by the ringing of the doorbell or Daniel call out to get her attention, she headed back down the steps.

"Declan, Charlie," Emily says smiling hugging her sister and brother in law, "How are things at the house? Where is Violet?"

"Violet is resting at mom's place," Charolette says walking into the house once her brother had moved allowing both her and Declan room to enter.

"Did we wake anyone?" Declan asks glancing to the steps knowing that they had a newborn and two other kids in the house to take care of.

"No, David and Carl are playing in his room and Lily is still sleeping," Emily says smiling as Daniel walks past them heading up to grab their son and his best friend.

"So have you seen the picture of Kayla?" Charolette asks smiling well she pulls out her phone, pulling up the most recent text conversation with her sister in law.

"Yes, she looks absolutely adorable," Emily says looking at the picture of her new niece.

"MOMMY!" Max's voice came as Emily's vision blurred, her head was spinning.

"EM!" Daniel's worried voice came from beside her, she let out a cough spitting out mouthfuls of water.

Emily's POV

My eyes shot open as I moved to sit up, but was pushed down by Nolan who was looking at me wide eyed.

"I'm okay, I just got dizzy and light headed," I say looking at my husband who was soaking wet, only to realize I was also in fact soaked, "Why am I all wet?"

"You finished drying Max off and then collapsed into the pool," Daniel says looking at Max who was terrified.

"Oh my god," I say reaching to touch my son's arm, "Sweetheart mommy is going to be okay. She just has not had enough water today."

"Let's get you up and get you some water," Daniel says looking at Nolan who was walking over with a fresh glass of ice water.

"Let's get this cake out of the way too," Nolan says moving the cake on the table, after handing the glass of water to me.

Taking a long sip of water I look at my son, "Max I am so sorry for ruining your birthday party."

"It's okay mommy, it's just us. My other party is Saturday," Max says looking at me, I lean down and place a gentle kiss on his forehead.

"Thank you my sweet boy," I say smiling softly, "I'll make this up to you."

Daniel kneels down in front of me his hand resting on my knee, "Are you sure you are okay Em? I had to do CPR to bring you back to us. I've never been more scared in my life."

"I'm fine Danny, I just had a weird dream or hallucination," I say putting my hand over his, looking at him and then our kids, "let's get this party started I'll explain everything later."
